Lemon Hostel

Clean, quiet and low-key is what you get with a stay at Hostel Lemon in Warsaw. Opened in May of 2007, this all-dorm hostel has a bright and cheery interior to match the staff. The standard hostel bunkbeds are new and comfortable, and each is matched with a solid wooden locker to which only you have the key. The lockers will hold even large backpacks, but the hostel also operates a storage room if you would rather. One computer with moderately fast internet access sits in the hall adjoining the dorm rooms.

The bathroom facilities are also new and fresh. Three individual rooms contain toilet, shower and sink, negating the need for gender-specific areas. Another four sinks stand in the adjoining hall. Next to this area are the clothes washer and dryer. These are gloriously free, as is soap, but due to electrical constraints, only one can operate at a time. In addition, a wash can take up to two or three hours, so if there are several people staying at the hostel, sign up in advance.

The kitchen is sunny and bright, with all the standards: refrigerator, tea kettle, toaster, dishes, sinks, etc. Tea and a coffee maker with coffee are always available. Breakfast is simple but plentiful, with cereal, bread, butter, jam, and cheese. The "common area" adjoins the kitchen in one large space. Three couches combine to provide seating for perhaps ten people. Adding the six who can sit in the kitchen, if everybody wants to be in one place, it could get crowded.

This, therefore, is probably not the hostel to get crazy with a crowd of folks from around the world. But if you are looking for a clean and quiet home with incredible walking access to Old Town and the train station, as well as a central location for public transit, this is absolutely your place.

To find Hostel Lemon, find the intersection of Marszalkowska and Swietokrzyska. Now walk 100m east on Swietokrzyska and look to the north for Jasna street. Follow the smell of incense from the Indian restaurant down the street, but before you get there, look for the door to Lemon in an archway on the right.
