To find Rucksacks Hostel, walk from the central bus station north to Bath Street, and turn left. Continue for quite some distance (longer than the directions from their website would imply) and cross over a highway. The hostel can be found just down the street from the highway, across from the library (where you can access the internet for free.) There is a purple flag out front of the hostel, making it easy to spot. The walk is approximately twenty minutes.
We were greeted by a very nice gentleman and given a very thorough tour of the hostel (which was definitely necessary). The building is maze-like and a little confusing. The hostel is relatively clean, with no bugs or vermin at all to speak of. Water is hot and plentiful in the showers (which have no curtains, although the rooms they are in, containing toilets and showers, are private.) There is, however, no hot water in any of the sinks.
Sleeping arrangements are cramped but quite acceptable, and also neat and clean. The rooms are quiet and kept at a comfortable temperature. Their free breakfast consists of toast and jam (be there early), and they have internet, washers and dryers, and coffee for a fee. There is also a big common room with a TV and DVD player.
In town, visit the Glasgow Cathedral, associated Necropolis behind it, and Buchanan Street, a large outdoor pedestrian mall with lots of nice shops and tons of people.
