Avis de Hostelz.com
Hostel Bakfark is located in the building of a college and is open only at New Year and in July and August. It is situated not far from the Moskva Ter (Square) and within ten minutes' walk from the castle district. To get there from the railway station you should take the red line metro to Moszkva Ter. This summer there was some reconstruction, so you have to get by metro to Astoria station and then take the bus M2B to Moszkva ter. There are more buses that go to Moszkva ter from the centre.

The hostel is not very popular, so there are always free beds. There are two floors and about fifteen rooms (dorms only). Each room has got two floors -- there are three beds upstairs and three downstairs. The rooms are quite spacious, but also very dirty. The beds and furniture (a couple of tables and wardrobes) are old. The good point is that you can switch on/off the light either upstairs or downstairs. There are also showers and toilets in the hostel -- ladies' showers and toilets are on the second floor and mens' are on the first. So, before you check in, think on which floor to stay. There is also a library (used as a common room), a kitchen (with no cutlery or dishes), a fridge (in the separate room), a luggage room (no charge), and a garden.

The staff is neither friendly nor hostile -- they will answer all your questions (their English skills aren't perfect though) and that's it. If you don't ask them where you can find your room or this or that facility you'll have to look for it yourself. When you check in be ready to give them your passport (or some other ID), and you'll get it back only when you check out. Hostel staff provides you with the bed sheets, but they don't give towels even for rent.

All in all, Bakfark is not the best place to stay in Budapest, especially if you expect to meet new people or to have a party – this is not the hostel for you. But if you want to have a quiet night and don't expect luxurious rooms, this hostel becomes an option. You should also remember that if you have no place to stay, here you can always find a bed.
