Le Village is an easy find, just two blocks from the Anvers stop on metro line 2. It's easily accessible from all of the main train stations, though you might have to transfer once or twice depending on how far away they are.
The hostel boasts a nice sitting area and an ok kitchen (there's often a queue for the hot pads). There is also a nice little outdoor patio area. Breakfast consisting of a croissant, roll, and orange juice is available in the morning. Front desk staff can be really friendly or treat you as if they think you're stupid -- depending on which one you get. The hostel has internet, but it isn't cheap and can be slow -- go to a web cafe. Wireless is not offered.
Our biggest problem with this hostel is the smoke. Unfortunately they allow smoking inside in the small common area. So as soon as one inconsiderate person (often a staff member!) lights up, everyone else has to choke on their smoke. Hopefully they'll catch up with the times and ban smoking inside soon.
The dorm rooms are fairly nice, with reasonably comfortable beds. There is a bathroom inside each dorm room, which sounds like a good thing, but in reality it can be a problem if you're in a room where everyone wakes up at the same time and everyone wants to take a shower. The showers are hot, but the "showerhead" has just a few poorly aimed pinholes that shoot tiny jets of water in random directions.
You have to leave your key at the front desk, but not everyone gets this, so sometimes it can be hard to get into the room when a roommate has taken the only key with them for the day. Altogether, this is a pretty good hostel despite a few hiccups (they only take cash, so be prepared).
