Raglans Backpackers

Raglans Backpackers is a cute little hostel in the centre of Adelaide. It´s a beautiful old building with a nice balcony which spreads an enjoyable and homelike atmosphere. You´ll feel welcome at once!

The Location

It is situated in the centre of Adelaide and is about five minutes' walk to the main shopping street and about a two-minute walk to Chinatown. If you arrive in Adelaide by bus you can already see the hostel from the bus station. It´s right across the road. This is really good if you´ve got a lot of luggage. If you arrive by plane you can take a bus or a cab -- it's not that far from the airport. The beach is about thirty minutes' drive by bus.
Moreover there´s a very good tourist agency three houses down. It´s especially for backpackers who want to go to the Outback.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorms at Raglans are excellent! Each room has got air conditioning and good beds. There´s enough space for luggage and the rooms are homey. The bathrooms are shared. There are only two showers and two toilets on one level, but that´s fine since there are more toilets on the downstairs level. Showers and toilets are nice and clean. The hostel has no washing machines and dryers.

Common Spaces

The large balcony is the most beautiful place to sit and chill out in the evening! Furthermore there´s a well equipped kitchen and a nice dining room. Internet access is provided with eight computers (though sometimes they don´t work and it´s not very fast). The bar downstairs is beautifully arranged and equipped with TVs. It's never been noisy at night, since it closes at around midnight.

Summary

Raglans Backpackers is not a usual hostel -- it's more like a budget hotel. We really recommend this place because of its perfect location and its beautiful atmosphere. It´s quiet and small but very nice and homey! It´s definitely one of the best city hostels we've been to!
