Avis de Hostelz.com
MS Innvik has a great location and is a fun place to stay in Oslo. It is located a short, five- to ten-minute walk from Central Station. At the front of the station, facing the street and large clock tower, you turn left, crossing two streets. At the third street you'll see a bridge walkway, it is impossible to cross the street otherwise (due to a large barrier in center of street). Cross this bridge walkway and you will end up in a parking lot. The boat can be seen from the top of the bridge and when you get in the parking lot. There is a large building in the front of the lot, the ship is behind it, and clearly labelled. Looking at a map it may seem confusing how to get there, but it's really quite easy.

After hours, the entrance to the ship is closed, but you ring a buzzer. There is a small ramp leading to the door. On the entry level, there is stairs leading to the staff areas which you will walk past. Next is a small theater which has shows nearly every night. There are seats outside and a place for coats, as well as restrooms. You go up the next set of stairs to reception.

The next level is the dining room and bar area, as well as reception. It's bright and airy and the staff is friendly. The hostel is run by the theater group that performs and books shows. Guests may attend many events for free, just ask. Shows are always over before 11 p.m., so noise isn't a problem late at night. There is an outside cafe area that looks really cute.

To get to the cabins you walk through the common room, which has books and tables and chairs, to the corridor. There are twelve cabins for up to four people each. Each cabin has a bathroom, bunk beds, a table and a chair, and a porthole which opens. Linens are included. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but small. There is adequate light and a power point. The bathrooms are clean and they provide towels. The floors do get wet when showering though, so you may step in water afterwards.

Breakfast, which included in the price was huge and filling. You you don't need a lunch after having breakfast There's juice, make-your-own-waffles, breads, cheese, meats, yogurt, fruit, and coffee. You can buy soda and candy bars as well.

This boat makes a great base for your stay in Oslo. It is close to Akerhaus Castle, many museums including the Filmmuseet and some art museums, and the train station. It is in a beautiful setting on the water, right where the new Opera House is being built. Perfect place to stay for a view of the new Opera House, especially if you'll be going to a show there.

This is a great place, as long as you don't need a lot of room and can handle the stairs (there's no elevator, so you must be able to climb stairs -- not viable for wheelchairs). The staff is helpful, friendly, artsy types, and there's always something going on there.
