Avis de Hostelz.com
Located inside London's Yello-tube-line loop and at these low prices something has to be too good to be true. It is and it isn't.

The first problem one will encounter is that it is not actually to easy to reach. Once one has arrived at the tube station Bayswater one has to walk two long blocks to the left down Qweensway at which point one is kiddy-corner from Boots (Pharmacy). Take a left there go down Porchester Gardens. Walk down an other few blocks to the end (where the street runs into the side of a square and turn right down Garway Road. Fallowing the second street on the left will bring you down the block to the hostel. which is on the left-hand side. So, it is well over five long blocks to the nearest tube station. There are buses closer by which are very confusing but will bring you to Paddington Station--also a doable hike away.

The hostel is very social--if you define social as drinking scene. It's not a party scene as much as a pure drinking scene. It does feature a bar with couches and late hours, but that doesn't keep the 'party' confined. Expect there to be loud, tipsy folks all around the hostel. This hostel is also home to an easyInternetcafe for low-cost internet usage. This is one of the hostel's best features. There is also a decently self-service kitchen open for dinner cooking use. Valuable items safes are also available.

The hostel takes a relaxed stand on cleanliness. The free breakfast has to be shared with birds which come in the windows. The dishes are simply rinsed after each use and put back out for use regardless of if anything is stuck to them. The bathrooms are cozy, especially since they have little to no ventilation and are all individual (one shower, toilet, or sink per room). They are not cleaned daily. The rooms themselves are also questionable in cleanliness. Linen are on the beds upon arrival and we are skeptical if they are always changed between guests.

Astor Leinster Inn is a bargain for the more adventurous (and drunken) souls.

Loud and Chaotic
I have stayed at this hostel in 2005. At first I thought the staff were guests -- the receptionist was sitting on top of the reception table, smoking and chatting. It was difficult to tell if they were working there! Very loud, full of spanish and Italian backpackers who weren't too friendly or perhaps too independent. The rooms weren't so clean, i had a roommate who lived at the hostel for many years. The washroom had condoms all over the floor. One time when I returned back to my room there was a couple sitting just outside the door and making out! The girl apparently stayed in some other room and her friend was an outsider. My room room was on the third floor -- no elevators and no one wanted to help with my two heavy bags after walking around lost for an hour. The staff is definitely not the best. And overall it is too crowded and noisy. The only asset the hostel has is its location. Three minutes away from Bayswater Station and one-minute walk from the main Queensway Road where shopping is great. Good central spot.

I stayed in Astor Leinster Inn for about a week. It has been a great week I have to say. I met lots of people, had lot of fun with them, and made new friends. Most of them were spanish, but there were italians as well (as you could imagine, I am italian). I was in the room with canadian, american, german, french, ecuadorian people, having a great time. Anyway, if you had to go in London for some time and you wish to stay in a hostel, go there, you will not regret it!

We stayed in this hostel for two nights. It is pretty much a hellhole. The staff is ok unless you ask anything of them. They told me I was supposed to walk down a few blocks in my PJ's in the morning to get a towel. There is no free internet as claimed on some sites. It is very far away from the tube, however there are nearby buses to Paddington Station. The bathrooms/showers are too few and completely rancid. We were skepitcal as to if the sheets we fresh. Plus, someone stole my towel.

I am well-traveled and have been a resident or tourist in more countries than I can count. Leinster Inn is without a doubt the loudest guesthouse I have ever stayed in. I lodged there for five days and did not get a decent night's sleep the entire time. I found I had to change my sleep schedule just to get some rest (between 4:30 am - 9:30 am, literally). People were shouting and laughing so loudly that I had to run the shower the entire night to drown out the noise (not environmentally conscious, I know, but I was desperate). If you're into the party scene, this is the place for you! But if you're looking for a place to rest after a long day of exploring the city, then I would avoid Leinster Inn. There is also an ongoing "hum" in the walls that is very annoying, like someone is directly above you stripping the floor with an industrial sander. Although the location is great, near Queensway Avenue, the Queensway station is closed for remodeling for several months, which makes transportation difficult. The beds were actually quite comfortable, but the showers never really got warm. They have a great computer area to check your e-mail. The price is reasonable, but you, um, get what you pay for.

I stayed in this hostel for 3 months and at first it was scary. It had a very dirty shower and very rude staff but I got used to it. And when I found some friends (it's very easy there) you don't really care about the dirt and you just enjoy yourself in the tiny but very friendly bar. London rocks!!!

For the amount of money you pay this is a good buy. The staff were quite friendly. We had a double bedroom with a shower, where we stayed for two nights. It was not very noisy, and breakfast was fine both times. We'd recommend the place!

I stayed Leinster Inn on a school trip. It was great! Only two negative things: the showers were dirty and our rooms were small. But there were a lot of nice guys in the hotel! I want to go back to London :D

I visited the Leinster Inn with a group. It was one of the filthiest places I have ever stayed! The staff seemed OK; we didn't have a lot to do with them, although a nice guy did come into our room in the morning to clean the washbasin. The location is OK, and the price for London accommodation isn't bad, but the standards of cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. There was never any toilet paper and I had to balance myself on the walls of the toilet to avoid the slurry of pubes, paper, and hair brewing underneath. The showers were also filthy. The rooms weren't too bad, except for the random sheet stains. A good location and decent enough rooms, but the general state of hygiene was not good.

We thought this place was okay (our first hostel experience ever) until we visited every other hostel we stayed at for four weeks. Compared to other hostels, this place is pretty much a dump, with many bunks crammed into one room and disgusting bathrooms and an Internet room that is the equivalent of a sauna. It seemed like maybe it would be a fun place to be if you're into being drunk all the time and not noticing the filth!

I liked this place. I have stayed here maybe four times and go back on purpose! It is true that here are no elevators, so try to be on the first floor. However, I've always found it clean enough and pleasant enough, though I may have low standards in terms of cleanliness. There are always people to meet and not everyone on the staff was rude. We never really made it to breakfast unless we were starving. In the summer, the Internet place is unbelievably hot, but at least it works, and the heat usually guarantees privacy and open computers. Last but not least, the bar is the best aspect, and I would definitely stay here again. You just can't be too uptight about peeling paint and cleanliness.

I loved this hostel. This is an overall good place to stay. The staff is pretty friendly, you'll meet lots of great people here, and the Internet cafe is hot. The stairs are killer (ask for a lower floor), and the shower is a push-button type (it usually doesn't get really warm until after you push the button the first five or six times, but I was on the 4th floor, so maybe it took longer). At least the showers were clean. All that really matters to me is the bed, and I was pleased. Clean sheets were provided, and a decent mattress. The area is nice, and the walk is short to Bayswater station for easy access. There is plenty to do within walking distance. The bar is teeny-tiny, and plays alright music. It's good for the first beer before you go pub-hopping, or if you don't feel like getting dressed and going out. Try the house beer special. Okay, last word: Don't stay here for comfort, or peace and quiet, or cleanliness--stay here for the experience of meeting fellow travellers and saving some cash in this very expensive city. London rocks!!!

This place is disgusting. A majority of the staff were unfriendly and uncaring and very unhelpful. The room had blood on the wall and the toilet and shower were disgusting and stank. I don't think they actually use cleaning products when they clean; they just wipe it over. The place stank of cigarettes.

The hotel itself is, in general, dirty, uncomfortable, old and a bit strange. If you have some health problems, don't go here, there are too many stairs! The staff aren't really kind. If you want to have a shower, you'll perhaps have to get used to cold water. I can add that the toilets and showers are both together, and sometimes it can be disturbing. But, if I put down two stars, it's because there's a funny bar and an Internet point.

The place is a dump! I stayed in a six-bed room with a bathroom, but the bathtub didn't work. Our window didn't close completly and there was some noise during night. The sofas in the entrance were full of ashes and holes. The paint on the walls was falling off, and everything had an awful aspect--although, after the first day you get used to it and don't care anymore. Breakfast was good; we paid 25€/night.

Absolutely gross, 3rd and 4th floors smelt like sewage, no lift, hallways narrow, rude staff (one admitted they don't wash linens), stained matresses, 25 people to one pubic hair covered shower. Do not stay here.
