Disgusting
I have staid there for one night, and thought it horrible. Service is nonexistent, you have to find you way around a confusing building, then the locks are hard to open, the room is dirty, the bed shady. There's a bar next-door that plays music really loud until insane hours, there is no privacy in the showers, the restrooms I avoided and instead went to a restaurant. Do not go there.

Yuck!
I've stayed in a lot of hostels and budget hotels in Europe, North America, and Central and South America and this was honestly the worst. The room was ok, except I'm pretty sure the heat was on in August (very hot!), but the washrooms were disgusting. They were unclean, and there was no privacy in the showers. Never again for sure, even though it was cheap and in a great location.

Crap
I stayed in this hostel for one night and I thought it was possibly the worst experience of my life. It was dirty and there were bugs everywhere! I am from the GTA and I love going to Toronto -- I still love it there but people who have never been to Toronto and stay here must think it is the slummiest city in the world if that is the first thing they see. I would recommend sleeping on the streets to this place as it would probably be cleaner.

Don't go to this hostel! This is the worst hostel I've ever been in my life and I've been to many countries. Found in the room what looked like a rat sh*t! Besides, there was bedbugs (kind of fleas i guess) in that damn bed! Got bitten twenty-eight times (I counted them)! This kind of hostel should simply be closed, how can the city tolerate this kind of places! That's simply unfair! It's maybe cheap but cleanliness is a minimum.

This hostel is dirty and poorly run. I checked out early and was unable to get the full amount of money back that I had payed even though I had given the proper notification. I highly recommend staying anywhere else, rather than this hostel. The rooms were disgusting, the common areas were poorly maintained! There is no charm to this place and if you do check in and decide you don't want to stay be prepared for difficulties getting your money back. This place is sketchy!

I have stayed in hostels all over the world and I have to say this was my worst experience. The location is convenient, the free internet, and local calls are great, but the basic thing I was looking for -- cleanliness -- was absent. I stayed in three different rooms and two out of three had mice (that I saw), and all had bedbugs. I am now covered in bites and trying to make sure my clothing and bags are not infested. Bedbugs are a pain (physically) and difficult to get rid of. I reported them to the staff, who although they were sometimes sympathetic, made no attempt to rectify the situation or apologise. As far as I can tell, the action being taken (using a powder) is totally ineffective and is no where near the methods being recommended to get rid of an infestation. The sheets are covered in dark spots (blood stains/bedbug feces stains) showing that this must be a widepread problem.

This place is creepy. Luckily I'm from Canada and am by now familiar with the city, but I would hate for it to ruin others' impressions of Toronto -- and it probably would.

This hostel is such a lie. Do not be fooled by its Web page. This place is not clean; besides, it stinks. We did not even receive sheets. The bathrooms are dirty. The mattresses are the worst and the beds are broken. We have been in many hostels around the world; and for sure this one has been the worst. If you need anything late at night there is nobody who will help you. And they do not refund your money.

I am an international student. I was a little worried about this hostel before I checked in but after two weeks I realize this college hostel is really good for me. I'm staying in the shared dorm room but I get free local calls inside the room. I don't need go to the TV room because there is cable TV inside my room. I can get Internet access without payment and cook with other students in the common kitchen. It's like I'm back at the University again. I strongly recommend you try this big hostel in downtown Toronto.

The location was pretty good. It's one block away from Kensington, and a few minutes to Chinatown. The best thing is that I could park my car for free (in a locked garage)!! That means a lot. The rooms were not nice, but not terrible.

I just spent two nights here in early September. This hostel has a reasonable price and convenient location -- it's adjacent to the University of Toronto campus. The bedroom was quite clean, as were the shared bathroom facilities. This hostel's shortcomings include: the switch board/reception is always vacant; and no tissue paper in the toilet. By the way, the Japanese sushi restaurant next door is good.

We stayed here for a month, and I think that maybe there used to be problems with long-term residents, but they have done a fabulous job of cleaning the place up. It's pretty much all backpackers now. The TV room has no TV, but this probably gives you more of an opportunity to meet fellow travellers. The free Internet is quick and great to have. Every room opens out onto a little balcony, the staff are nice, and everything is reasonably clean. My Only advice is to maybe pick up a few cheap kitchen utensils from Chinatown, as they're a little lean in this area. Being right in the middle of the markets is very colourful and fun, and absolutely the best location. Double thumbs up.

I was there for 2 weeks in April 2004. The location was great, the staff wer freindly, but cleaning could be better. When I was there the hostel was full with backpackers from all over, mostly Japanese, Koreans, and Americans.

I stayed here for too long. The staff walks into your room without knocking (no class). Prostitutes and drug addicts live in the building. It has Cockroaches. Low lifes live here on a long-term basis and your personal belongings going missing.

I liked the fact that my private room had it's own heat control, t.v. and phone (with free local calls.) BUT the place is a sty. The shower had no lock on the door, I had water halfway up to my knees (thanks to a clogged drain) and when I pointed out to the staff that there was water all over the hallway after my shower, they couldn't have cared less. If you're not a pig, I don't really recommend this hostel.
