The hostel is in a beautiful old palace within the ancient medina at Tunis. It is built in a fashion typical of Tunisian homes, where all rooms surround an open courtyard. The tile work is beautiful, but the entire courtyard and cupola were under construction during my stay (February 2003). The rooms are typical, lockers (you must bring your own lock) are inside the rooms. It gets very cold during winter nights and there is no insulation whatsoever, so dress accordingly. Warm blankets are supplied. Hot showers available after 8 PM. The couple who runs it are very sweet and personable, they speak French and not English. No common space other than dining area, which does have a television.
