This was the most dirty and most disgusting place I have ever stayed at but despite that I have never had so much fun in my life as I had staying at Lido! The staff were great! The free barbecue's awesome and the pub crawls with free beer so much fun. The atmosphere in this place was so great, everyone was nice and always ready to party! I would really recommend this place if you are in Sydney to have fun, meet great people, and party. I have also heard that the standard is much better now! So try it out!

This place really kicked the sh*t out of all the other hostels in Sydney man. (I got kicked out of most of those anyway.) They don't care if you use drugs or bring home prostitutes or anything. at one time I was dealing dope from my room, and I even paid the guys that run the place in weed! Excellent service, really. I can recommend the place to everyone wanting to just have an awesome time, as long as you don't care to much about mouldy walls and bugs and all. To me that's fine you know. Plenty of chicks sunbathing on the roof topless too most of the time. Swedish ones. I still owe them some rent but they kept my passport. that's all good man.

If you like paying to stay in a place as clean as a sewer it's fine and if you like your bedtime lullaby to be from Kylie, Men at work or Wham till 6am from the Boozer underneath the "Hostel" then this is absolutely the place for you. My favourite experience was however coming back into my room to find a Rat the size of a Cat(I kid you not) jumping around in my girlfriends backpack, it felt like we had visited Steve Irwin's zoo earlier than planned! The guy on reception was not fazed by this at all and his response and actions made me believe this was not an unusual occurrence. Avoid this place at all costs, it is FILTHY!

Worst hostel in the planet. Bed bugs, cockroaches, rats, any infestation going really. Rats came through the hole in the wall and the problem was fixed by stuffing a pizza box in the gap (still covered in pizza). The bedbug bites in this place were unbelievable, as were the long termers there; it's full of crazies, but not nice ones. Avoid unless you're extremely broke.

You know the Lido rules. I'm not sure whether it's still standing now, as when I left in July 2004 it was due to be knocked down. Yeah, you're right it is minging [dirty] and there are cockroaches and you can't sleep because it's too loud. If you're looking for peace and quiet and a good night's kip [sleep] — what the hell are you travelling for? Get over it — Lido rules. PS. It also provides free barbecues and beer — what more could anyone ask for?

I don't really want to give this place ANY stars. Never have I stayed in such a filthy place. Didn't see bedbugs, THANK GOD! But I did see cockroaches. However, I'd pre-paid (like some stupid fool) and didn't trust that I'd get my money refunded if I refused to stay, so stay I did, but sleep I did not! What a HELLHOLE!! STAY AWAY if you like basic hygiene and cleanliness.

Don't go to this hostel at Kings Cross. It is very shabby. Every bed has bedbugs, the bathrooms are very dirty and the ceiling is coming down. The fridges in the rooms are too small. There are bugs, beetles and other dirty things everywhere.

Great place for someone on a budget! Great staff! I'm still in contact with them. At least once a week there was a free barbecue. The staff were working really hard to make the place even cleaner and better. I stayed here three times within a year. Keep up the good job, guys!!!

I stayed at Lido (they have 2 or 3 different places) and our room was above some sort of cabaret club open 'til six in the morning and I couldn't sleep!! Although we had a kitchen, we were told that steam or anything from the oven will set off the fire alarm, and we will be fined 250 dollars!! As if!! Also, after being kept awake 'til 6 by music, the brewerey made deliveries at 8 most mornings right below the dorm windows! So no sleep. It's also quite dirty; the room maid only comes once a week. On another occasion, I got put in a room with someone who looked like they lived there: the room stunk, he had sh*t everywhere, and the bathroom was so flithy I wouldnt use it. The guy had porn magazines all over the floor--good job they didn't put a girl in that room!!

Well, where do I start? My first impression of this place was fantastic: I was greeted at reception by two great guys (good looking too!!), Danny and Kiwi Shaun. They put me into a room with people very similar in personality to myself, so already I was off to a great start. These guys will pretty much help you with tour info, good places to go out, and also to go see around Sydney. The rooms are immaculate, there's always a good vibe around the place, not to mention the free beer and BBQ on Thursday nights. I've stayed at some good hostels before, but this one is excellent and I would have to say for $70 a week you can't go wrong, 'coz I didn't. So for the rest of you backpacker girls out there wanting a cheap place to stay with hot looking staff, and in need of an excellent fun experience then this is the hostel for you. The owners have changed. The better Lido is just that: better. One of the cheapest if not the cheapest place in Kings Kross and Sydney for sure. Because of this I stayed for quite a long time and as a result made the dorm homelike, meaning even though it got sh*tty sometimes, I put up with it cause it was my sh*t! The crew there were just great. Everyone is so laid-back. If you're looking for a palace then go to the Ritz! Otherwise, if you want a laid-back place with laid-back easy-going people, then go to the Lido.

The en suite bathroom has such class it makes me feel that Lido Apartments is the best hostel in New South Wales. I advise all tourists to book it.

This hostel was filthy. I don't know if the rooms were serviced daily but I didn't see any evidence of it. The bathroom was mouldy and the door frame was hanging off. The kitchen facilities in the rooms were poor - not enough fridge space for one person never mind six. The worst part however was the way people were shifted round all the time. The people in our room initally were moved to another room down the hall then other people were moved from within the hostel at 10pm at night, they had been woken up and told to move rooms. We arrived back at 2am on xmas day night to find that people had been checked into OUR beds and all our stuff was in a pile on the floor. No receptioon open and no number to call, there was no way I was sleeping on the floor as it was so filthy so we wandered round Kings Cross with our luggage until 4am to find a bed!!! Needless to say, we checked out the next day. Apparently we were supposed to have moved rooms but no one told us so they just put other people in our beds. Thanks! To be honest, I was glad to leave. No free breakfast, no free beer voucher, etc. The TV was broken, so was the phone. Basically bear in mind that the description above by the owner is basically a load of cr@p. Don't do it!!!
