Le Djoliba

Le Djoliba is actually a hotel, but it has a rooftop dormitory on the top floor. It is not as closely located to the river as other hotels, but we noticed in Segou that accommodations were of a higher standard than we had seen elsewhere and not necessarily more expensive.

It's very clean with a high standard of cleanliness, service, and facilities. The dorm is a spacious room about 50m in length with beds at intervals and the bathrooms right down the other end. You can get tired walking to and from the bathroom! To reach the dorm you climb to the second story from reception where there is a huge terrace (wonderful at night when there is a blackout!), and then from there up a steep staircase to the dorm room.

The restaurant serves three meals a day and you can either sit out European style and watch the street life, or inside or out the back in a small paved garden. Le Djoliba also has little information maps and booklets at reception which are useful for finding your way around to places like internet cafes, the Comanav boat office, etc.
