Description (same in French)
We are only a frisbee throw from the famous Belongil Beach with its golden sands and crystal clear ocean..A ten minute stroll along the beach towards the lighthouse and you'll reach the world acclaimed Byron Bay township with its smorgasbord of cafes and boutique shops to meander through. A five minute stroll in the other direction along the pristine sands and you'll find the breathtaking estuary of the Belongil Creek, a protected nature sanctuary.

The Belongil Beachouse itself is nestled on an acre of landscaped gardens, mostly native trees and shrubs, and we have designed and built a range of accommodation, from four separate cottages with their own private gardens, studios with spas, family rooms,to shared rooms with ensuites and a variety of doubles, and placed them strategically throughout the grounds providing spacious accommodation with maximum privacy.

With surf and boogie boards being available at the Beachouse, and the waves on your doorstep, it'll be easy for you to sample a tiny taste of the surfing life and understand why youngsters in the sixties and seventies migrated to Byron and stayed, creating over the next twenty years a counter culture which now thrives in and around the Bay. Its values, vibrant energy and colour permeate the area resulting in a truly unique Byron Bay. So grab a board, head for the beach and feel the exhilaration of wave riding ! Be careful many people have caught the surfing bug here, then life's never the same again ! But even if you don't feel like a surf I would really recommend a walk up to the Belongil Estuary, one of Byron Bay's hidden treasures. Check out our arial photo and you'll see why this stunning estuary is a protected area, particularly for the endangered Little Tern. You can swim, sunbathe, surf in peace there and the kids will have lots of fun splashing in the creek too. Its also an official nude beach for those inclined, due to its quiet and seclude location, and yes its only ten minutes walk from the Beachouse!

Of course you will only enjoy the ocean if you manage to climb out of your hammock swaying in our lush subtropical gardens, or drag yourself away from the intimate cafe atmosphere of our Belongilbeach Cafe, which is situated in one corner of our gardens. (check out their yummy menu on the cafe page].

Try booking early if you intend to visit us during any holiday period and if you haven't fixed the date, try coming to Byron Bay in the winter time...why ?...the surfs better, its not too hot or crowded, you can sit on the beach all day when the sun's out, and you have a much better chance to meet the locals 'cos thats when we like it here best!

5   Best Place On Earth! The Belongil is a very special place which magically seems to attract special people of all ages -- from all over the world. I went with a friend and intended to stay for only three days, which turned into two weeks. Then we left for a bit and wound up back in Byron at the Belongil, because after being there and in Byron Bay, nothing else quite adds up. I felt like I was part of a big family, all because of the managers Mick and Tracey, and their amazing staff, all of whom we quickly befriended. Leaving there was a sad day. On top of all the magic, the Belongil boasts laundry facilities, clean communal washrooms, generous sized rooms, an incredible industrial kitchen, Zen-like grounds, great cafes on either side, yoga centres up the street and in town, a beautiful beach directly across the street, an internet room, free shuttle bus into town if you're feeling too lazy to walk along the beach to get there, and best of all, a freedom of spirit you'll feel nowhere else.  , Canada ()
4  We stayed here for two nights in December 2004. The Belongil BeachHouse proved to be a really good place to stay with many redeeming qualities. It is located around five to ten minutes outside of the main town which is easily accessible (and fairly cheap) by cab or through the free minibus service that went to and from the centre until around 9 p.m. The dorm room that I was in was fairly spacious and the bunks were comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was large and pretty clean (by hostel standards anyway)! A short walk away is Belongil Beach which you should definitely visit, particularly with a surfboard or boogie board that you can hire for free from reception. When we were there, internet access was only provided by a lone computer that had a virus and shut itself down after only a few moments. I would imagine that it's been fixed by now. There is a really chilled out atmosphere to the place, there is a large TV lounge/communal area to make it sociable and overall it was a very pleasant hostel indeed. Also, whilst in Byron Bay, make sure you spend at least half a day out at Nimbin.  , British ()
5  probably the best hostel i stayed in during my travels. Rooms are nice, big, and clean, the bathrooms also. the kitchen is ok. the hostel is situated perfect, belongil beach is never too crowded so you can enjoy your time at the beach and relax. i actually wanted to stay just a couple of nights, as i left i had worked at the hostel for a couple of weeks. first reason for that of course the beautiful, genuine, and fun people i met. so if you want to relax and meet great people this is for you.  ()
2  Good clean accommodation that is too far from town with the buses finishing at 8:55. Mature people? No. Never failing to attract sleazy old guys and wankers. Would recomend it only to people with cars who are in groups. I had been here five times, but never again. It is slightly cheaper and often has beds when the others don't. Maybe it is being marketed wrongly? But the people have a fair impact on the experience.  ()
4  I stayed here just for one night - but I really enjoyed it! What a nice atmosphere. Well equipped kitchen, clean facilities and pretty close to the beach, if it hadn't rained, we had probably heard the waves... Not the party place in town, but a nice place to meet lots of people!  ()
5  The best place to stay in Bayron Bay! I stay here at least once a year and I always love it!!! Very relaxing. Highly Recommended.  ()
5  Yes, our double room certainly had the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in on holidays. A great mix of people and clean facilities — what more do you want from a hostel? I think the great appeal of Byron is that anyone is welcome, and you can be comfortable in who you are. This is certainly true at Belongil. There was a mix of ages and people from OS [overseas]and OZ [Australia]. But if you are looking for a party place, it might not be for you. Although, you can still party in town. It is so peaceful at night, you can hear the waves crashing. And we highly recommend a lazy afternoon on the hammocks.  ()
4  I found Belongil BeachHouse fantastic. I was there in 1992, and met so many wonderful people, both travelers and locals, and especially the folks who worked at the hostel itself. The grounds are beautiful, it's close to the beach, and the air everywhere is bright, relaxing, and warm. A must-visit for anyone who wants to taste a piece of heaven in Australia. Don't forget to spend some time on Main Street in town, it blossoms with energy and spirit.  ()
