This is a clean, big hostel with all the standard facilities. The dorms have four beds each and have plenty of room. The rooms have no lockers, but at least access to each room is restricted by a keypass. The only lockers available are downstairs and you have to pay to use them. The beds are comfortable and clean, and individual reading lights are provided. The bathrooms are clean with plenty of toilets and showers. There is a huge kitchen area and dining area. Downstairs there is a TV lounge area, a games room, and a job search area (very useful if you are on a working holiday visa).
As it's a Hostelling International hostel, it tends to attract an older crowd. If you're looking for more of a party, you're probably better trying one of the independent hostels. This hostel has a friendly atmosphere though.
The hostel is located in a good central location - Turner Street, just off Queen St, there are lots of internet cafes and other hostels nearby. There is an Airbus stop (to/from the airport) nearby on Queen St.
