Avis de Hostelz.com
Oasis Backpackers' Hostel Granada offers free breakfast. It is the usual coffee, juice, cereal, milk but it is free. For people traveling on a budget, they offer great cultural dining experiences for a few Euro --and yes, they have vegetarian food too! They also offer a free Tapas Tour on Sundays. For a fee, Spanish lessons are offered three times a week. Upon arrival, you are given a free drink coupon to use in their bar. You are able to use the telephone for free. For the price, can you believe all of the free stuff you get? The kitchen is available for use if you would like to cook your own meals.

The Location

If you take the airport shuttle, ensure that you get off at the Cathedral stop. Cross the street and start following signs to the hostel. You should follow the signs through the shopping streets until you come to the hostel -- it can be hard to find.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Although we had a huge roach in our bathroom, the bathroom is cleaned daily. If you have messy roommates, you will have a messy bathroom. If not, you will be fine. The housekeeping staff is generally nice but do not speak much English. Our room was two rooms in one and divided into three sections. The first section is a tiny hall which houses the lockers and the bathroom. From this hall, you could get to two different rooms. The first room has two sets of bunk beds. The last section/room has three sets of bunk beds. So if you book a six-person room, you would expect to share a bathroom with only five other people. That is not the case! The bathroom is shared with both rooms, therefore, ten people in all. This makes using the bathroom a game of chance.

Common Spaces

The reception staff is very nice. The reception is only open from 8 a.m. to midnight. They were helpful in giving directions and recommending restaurants. There is free use of the computers and Internet, including wireless connection. Beware, there are only three computers! We would recommend using them very late at night or very early in the morning or you will wait in a line that can get very long. Check-in time is noon and check out time is 11:30. There is a room key deposit per person. If you plan to leave before 8 a.m., make sure you check out the night before to receive your deposit back.

Summary

We would recommend this hostel to anyone traveling in Granada. It has a nice atmosphere -- great value for the money. Even though they advertise that they accept credit cards, they prefer cash. We saw them turn people down with plastic and tell them to give them the cash as soon as they could.
