In Campeche, Monkey Hostel seems to be the happening place to be. The atmosphere is lively and fun, and while not perfect or sparkeling clean, it's more or less clean (in a sanitary sense). The staff are friendly, welcoming, and accommodating 24 hours a day. Someone connected with the hostel has a mango tree, so unlimited mangos are at your disposal.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The private rooms get a bit hot, but they do have nice balconies. The bathrooms are clean and have decently hot water with decent pressure. Sometimes they may be out of toilet paper, but just ask and they will re-stock. Not all the toilets have seats, but if it's important to you, some do. Internet access is fast, but not "turbo" as advertised, but the price is right. Towels and sheets are included, and lockers are available, but not in the rooms. There is a washer and dryer available for 20 pesos each ($2), but there's also a place to hang clothes if you're cheap.
The kitchen is a bit under stocked on the pots/pans/utensil side, but it does have an area for community leftovers/spices which is nice. They have free drinking water and if you want to fill your bottle it's only 3 pesos (30 cents). There is a nice breakfast included—cereal, fruit, bread, and coffee/tea. At the time of this review, they have a beautiful terrace overlooking the square, however they are in the process of converting it into a coffee shop. On the weekends there is live music on the roof and they plan group trips if you're interested.
To find the hostel is simple, just go to the main square and it's on the right if you're back is to the ocean.
