Avis de Hostelz.com
The cheap price is the only redeeming aspect of this hostel. A sleeping bag on the floor would be much more comfortable than the two-inch foam sheets they use for mattresses, adorned with sheets made out of a paper/plastic blend similar to the material of a hospital gown. The carpets are stained, the furniture threatens to collapse at any moment, and the doors to the bathroom and shower don't close properly or quietly.

Though the A1 Hostel is convenient to the Palmovka metro station, the neighborhood is full of hernas and all-night bars: good indicators that it may not be safe after dark. This is a questionable enough part of town that this hostel is not recommended, for safety reasons alone, to all-female groups.

To find A1 Hostel, take the metro to the Palmovka station. Walk two blocks uphill to Sokolovska street, turn left onto it, and the hostel will be on your right in another couple blocks.

2 I stayed in this hostel this weekend with my boyfriend, for three nights. I will start with the good points. The rooms are very cheap, the location is not bad, the hostel is located near a Metro station in a quiet area (except for the trams and trains passing by) just outside the center. The beds we slept in were ok, considering the price of the room. The toilet and shower were nearby and clean. But our biggest complaint was the noise from our neighbors. It started the first night and continued during the second and third. We could hear our neighbors coming home at three in the morning, and we heard things you don't want to hear from anybody. We heard one of them puking, and worst of all, snoring. Nothing helped, banging on the walls, on their door, shouting, etc. And that for three nights, the snoring! But I would recommend this hostel, just don't forget your earplugs!!! Like we did... :-(

1 This was a hotel with very low standards. It was okay just as a place to sleep for the night, but you shouldn't have any high expectations for the hotel before your arrival. The quality of the rooms differed. Some were very acceptable, with a toilet and shower in the room, but some were very disgusting. So be careful what kind of room you get. Prague is a very nice city, so in the big picture, the hotel is a pretty small part of the whole travel experience.
