Disgustingly hot This hostel is overcrowded and absolutely boiling. I was in a room where there was faulty air con and not even a fan for the room. We left half way through our reservation and paid extra to stay in a hotel. To put this in to context I have traveled all over the world for the last three years staying in hostel after hostel. This is one of the worst.

This place was the worst one I have been in. The security is awful (as in there is none), the staff smokes in the building, immediately outside the rooms, and stays up drinking all night. There were not enough bathrooms or showers for the guests. The place is under renovations. There is no kitchen, and the "free" breakfast is really lacking. Perhaps once the renovations are finished it might be okay, but until then I would stay away unless you want to stay up all night and not sleep.

I stayed in the roma inn with my friend chloe while traveling round italy last year and I have to say it made our trip fantastic. we have so many good memories of this place, and we were sad to leave. We stayed for about four days i think, and had the best time. The people were lovely, funny, and put on a great buffet with free drinks in the evenings -- punch galore! i can't say enough good things about this place. only downfall was that we had to leave to travel to a different part of italy!

the hostel was in renovation and that wasn't told on the site so it was very noisy and dirty, the people were friendly although. we had reserved and paid for a room with private bathroom but they didn't have it till the last night. it is a hostel ok for one or two nights, but not for a whole week like we booked it. there isn't a kitchen. anyway the staff are good people, but they have to tell on the site that it's under construction.

I was at roma inn for three nights (january 2007), and all i can say about it are good things. the breakfast is simple but the dinner is great. the people that work there are really nice, especially Antonio! oh my god he is a really nice guy.

We ended up here for one night (the hostel we had booked into had given away our beds because we arrived late) and I certainly wouldn't have gone for Roma Inn if I'd had a choice. My dorm was overcrowded (mattresses on floor) and in a rather noisy location, although my friends got beds in a smaller, quieter room, but with no window! The bathroom was tiny — more of a wet room — and the lock didn't work properly. It was clean enough when I arrived but by morning it was a complete mess with no sign of cleaners. The communal area was more a glorified corridor between the rooms and I could hear the TV on all night. It was also very smoky in there.
Good things:
* a free dinner and drink (although the pasta was too spicy for most people) served at a place about a 15 minute walk away;
* good location near Termini and Forum, Coliseum etc.;
* the proprietors were fun and liked joking around, which I enjoyed, although some might find their sense of humor a bit odd (usually based around giving you false information when you asked them questions, but always gave the right answer afterwards).
If you have no where else to stay then Roma Inn is ok. Maybe if you stayed out of season it would be better (I went in June) as it is less crowded.

This was absolutely the worst place to stay. By the way, I think all those 5 star ratings above were written by the guys who run/operate this place ...can't you tell? Liars!! Absolutely disgusting!!

It was tiny, gritty, but cheap and central, so I was satisfied. It's one Metro stop from Termini in a cute, quiet neighborhood. My bed was comfortable, if old, with sheets and blankets provided, in a small room with five other people. There is a staff member at the desk all night. The one I met was very friendly and gave me a wake-up call. There is only one bathroom. The shower worked fine. I paid 15 euros. No complaints.

This was outrageous! It smelled like rotten eggs! It was just a bad time. I would not recommend it.

I stayed here on a trip in 2003. I was in Rome for four nights but after staying here for one night, I relocated. This place is a mess! The worst part was the staff, who started getting loud around 2 a.m! I didn't sleep at all there.

Great place! I stayed for a week in this hostel, and I really miss the time I was here. Okay, there's no kitchen, and the bathrooms, of course, were dirty after being used by ten people wearing dirty shoes, but hey, what do you expect? It's a youth hostel, not a 5-star hotel. Greetings to the staff! They are really great; we had so much fun with them, more than I ever had in another hostel. When I come to Rome another time, I, of course, will check in at the Roma Inn again. ;-)

Horrible! We made a reservation and there was no place for us. The reservation was made ten days in advance by three e-mails and two phone calls. The day we were going to the hostel we called in the morning to confirm everything, and the man on the phone told us there was a private room for us (five people). At midnight the guy in reception tried to find another hostel for us. The worst thing was that they treated us really badly, as if we had done something wrong. They said we were lying, and that we didn't make the reservation. Incredible! Though we had the e-mails to show them they kept telling us lies and lies! There is no kitchen. The bathrooms are outside the hostel. The smell in the entry was disgusting.

This place was definitely on the low-end of the spectrum. The staff treated us mostly like we were an annoyance, and getting to and from our room felt like going through their living room. The 'free internet' means you can use the computer at reception, which is awkward and annoying because you have to interrupt whatever the desk is doing. The bathrooms were filthy and the coed shower didn't even have a lock on the door.

I visited this hostel in 2000, and it must have been one of the worst I've been to. We made a reservation for seven people under my name. I tried reconfirming one day before we arrived. The guy on the phone already sounded confused. When we arrived, the party started. They played some foolish act pretending they actually ever wrote something down, and then they told us:
- The kitchen is closed because nobody cleans their sh*t up.
- Someone visited porn sites on our PCs, so no Internet for you
- We have a problem today with the water, should be fixed tomorrow
In reality:
- There never was no kitchen
- There never was Internet-PC
- The water was already cold for one week, one guest told us
And some other stuff:
- The sheets were dirty
- We had to go through someone else's room to enter our own
- There was only one power plug for ten people
Well, I don't like dirty hostels without any facilities , and I especially don't like being lied to on numerous occasions. This is a hostel that needs to close down fast. It has no right to exist.
