The Rock

The Rock is a nasty old house in Carlton near the Melbourne city. It's a homey backpackers, even if it can be quite dirty sometimes after parties. The owner, Twang, is a forty-year-old guy. He's always holding a bottle of Shiraz or a can of Carlton in his hand. The hostel is generally for long-term staying for students or backpackers. People staying here are so friendly that it's easy for you to get close to each other. Twang give you all the freedom to make it feel like home so everywhere you can find people chatting smoking or drinking.

Location

It's quite convenient to go to the city. Either you can go there on foot or take the city Circle Tram. For a bit walk you can find the Melbourne Gaol. A bit more further is the Queen Victoria Market. It just takes around five to ten minutes' walk along the Elizabeth Street and then you can see the Melbourne Central in front of you with all the big malls, shops, restaurant, cafes, supermarkets. If you like Chinese food, for sure you have to take a visit to China Town in Russel Street.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There's either double room or eight-bed dorms. People living there are quite messy, so you will feel like you are living in a flea market because clothes and stuff can be all over the floor! There are three washrooms in this big house to share.

Common Spaces

There's a room with TV and sofas where you can watch movies, plus a long table and stools next to it where you can play cards and chat there. The big house has an outside area, a big kitchen, a dining table, a washing machine and dryer, and a computer. There is a balcony in the dorm with sofas. There's wireless in the house, but it's very slow.

Summary

Even though we are tidy and clean, we liked being here since the people are so nice. We enjoyed being here chatting every night with a can of beer. It can be crazy sometimes, especially there's holidays or something to celebrate. So you better get ready to party here with these funny roommates!
