Fireside Lodge

Fireside lodge is located at 2117 Nordic Drive in Nordic Estates, between Whistler Village and Whistler Creekside. The building itself is located on the right side of the street immediately after the second speed bump (this is important if you wish to find it in the dark). The lodge is a large, chalet-style building, complete with a very nice lounge room and fireplace. It is kept very clean, partly because guests are required to leave shoes and boots at the entranceway.

Downstairs is a games room with large pool table, convertible ping pong table and foosball table, which are all free for guests' use. Dorms are four people per room. Rooms are very small, not much larger than a walk-in closet, but have a cozy feel to them. Given the extraordinary size of the lounge and kitchen, you probably won't spend to much time here anyway. The kitchen is large and modern, and like the rest of the place, kept very clean. Full, semi-private showers are located downstairs, which is good if you want to take a shower immediately after the slopes, but bad if you left your clothes upstairs and have to ascend two floors in a wet towel.

This hostel gives all guests a key for the front door, which is always locked. This security may be reassuring for travelers who are carrying valuables with them on their travels. The price is slightly higher than some others in the area, but you have a nice place to show for it. The Fireside lodge attracts a variety of people, not just the student travelers or young job-seekers. It could make for an excellent budget lodge for a couple or small family. You will also want to make a reservation for this hostel, as they are often full. If you're looking for a nice place to stay for a day or two that's clean and quiet, this is your hostel.
