Khaosan Ninja is a neat place, with tiny dorm rooms and modern amenities.
The Location
Khaosan Ninja Hostel is located very close to Bakurocho station (if you can find exit 4C -- follow exit 6 and you will see the signs!). There are a few restaurants and convenience stores close by, but other than that, it's a pretty dull neighbourhood -- not half as charming as Asakusa.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The tiny dorms are typical of Tokyo, so nothing shocking here. The beds (bunk beds) and covers are comfortable, and there is even a little table and chair in the private rooms. You are given a key for your room and one for the building and each floor door opens with an electronic code. The showers are very clean and work very well, with plenty of them on each floor.
Common Spaces
The common lounge in the basement is a good area to hangout and there are two free internet computers there (another three by reception on the ground floor). Coffee and tea are free during the day, but no breakfast is provided. There is book exchange, a widescreen TV with DVDs, and sofas and tatami areas as seating. It's a very nice place to meet fellow backpackers.
Summary
Apart from the uninteresting neighbourhood, Khaosan Ninja is good value for money. The staff are very friendly and the hostel itself is just spotless clean and comfortable. It's on the Narita Airport train line and on the Tokyo metro line, so getting out and about isn't complicated.
