Easy Go Hostel manages the impossible of combining the two highly different aspects that attract tourists to Vang Vieng -- nature and the party vibe. While it is located in a quiet spot within the town overlooking the fantastic mountains across the river, it also encourages wild nights and contributes to it with loud music, alcohol, balloons, and drinking games.
The Location
Easy Go is located in the north of the town, near Wat That Temple. It is in a very quiet and peaceful zone with little else around. In fact, it is interesting to be listening to the chanting of the monks amid loud party music. However, everything that the town has to offer can be reached in a matter of minutes; the night market takes the longest, and it's around twenty minutes on foot. While the view from your room is nothing special, the common area overlooks the river and the mountains beyond the river. It is nice to chill here in the evenings and catch what is visible from here of the sunset.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel tries to stick to a natural look, which is why some of its dorms have bunks made of bamboo. However, the cheapest ones only have metal frames, which do not really fit into this atmosphere. It is quite hot in the rooms and they are also quite noisy and all the noise from the bar can be heard here. The mattresses are incredibly hard and uncomfortable, and the only lockers are found near the reception. While the dorms are on the first floor, the bathrooms are on the ground level, which can be somewhat inconvenient as it means that you have to march through everybody sitting in the common area to be able to shower. However, they are in quite a good shape and are clean as well.
Common Spaces
The biggest part of the ground floor is a common area that has two parts; there is a bar with a pool table and a chilling platform with bamboo furniture. The place would be quite relaxing, but loud, local-type music is played nonstop. There is a wide range of alcoholic beverages on sale as well as some other items. Unfortunately, no breakfast is included in the price.
Summary
Easy Go is quite a strange place; they want to appeal to the lovers of nature as well as the lovers of parties at the same time, but the outcome is a situation where neither crowd is fully pleased. The location and architecture are nice though, so if you can disregard this factor, you might actually have a pleasant time here.
