Friendly Staff, Awesome Location visited early may 2007 Location -- Montmartre area is so beautiful, near metro stops, bread shops, cheese shops. I had a great view from my balcony as well. Cats -- There are two that stay on the ground floor, who on occasion pop out to say bonjour! They don't venture up the stairs however, so allergy sufferers should not have a problem. Staff -- Friendly and helpful. Clean bathrooms and beds! Carpeting on floors -- not a fan! It was clean, but carpet can only get so clean. No alcohol/food allowed in your room. This is not so much of a con really, but kind of annoying. I expect this is because of backpackers, crumbs, and a cleanliness problem, so maybe this is really a good thing. Overall I would visit again!

This hotel is located in a nice little cul-de-sac just 3 minutes by foot from the Pigalle metro station, albeit in a rather seedy neighbourhood where sex shops abound. Sacre Coeur is only about 10min uphill by foot.
Run by a motherly lady and her daugthers (we think), the whole place felt like a home instead of a hotel, house rules included. Breakfast is free (for once!). Though not a sumptous buffet, a criossant, 1 large piece of bagette, juice, coffee/tea, jam and butter are sufficient fuel to start the day.
We stayed in a chamber for 2 persons with an ensuite bathroom. The room wasn't big but had enough space for walking with 2 suitcases opened. The bathroom was well-equiped and clean. No air-conditioning (nothing to worry about unless you're heading there in those sweltering hot summer days?).
The homely feel extended further when the frontdesk girl went to the kitchen herself to boil us hot water upon request. However, if you're the partying sort, this place isn't a right fit for you. There is a no-alcohol and no-smoking in room rule.
Althought Montmatre is rather out of the way from the main sights in Paris, Hotel Andre Gill on its own, gets 4 stars for service.

This is a cross between a hostel and a hotel. It has no common kitchen or large dorms, but it has the atmosphere of a hostel. Basic but clean, with very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location it's a three-minute walk to the Pigalle Metro station, and halfway up the hill to the Sacre Coeur. Gorgeous. It's so easy to get to anywhere you want to go in Paris. If you're staying in a dorm (at most three people), the owner tries to put you in with people she thinks you'll get on with. I thought this was a very nice touch. Our room was small and basic but had a bathroom in the room, which was a lovely change from most hostels. Breakfast is included. The only real thing I would say against this hotel is that there is NO SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX. The owner says they have never had any trouble, but that's not to say they never will. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel — it's a great value for money.

It's small and basic. They cram some of the beds into the rooms, but the bathroom was a bonus, and the staff are friendly. The free breakfast is good to get you started in the morning. There is no common room or space to hang out, but why would you when you're in Paris!!

Stayed here two nights. First night I had a shared-shower room, and the second night it was an ensuite. The staff are very friendly; the rooms are nice and clean. It's basic, but exactly what you need--fitting to take a break from the 12+ hostel dorms.

Although the rooms and shared bathrooms are small and basic, it is a quiet and friendly place to stay. The breakfast offered was the best I had in the hostels I stayed in, with croissants, tea and juice provided. But special mention goes to the staff, the woman on the front desk and the after-hours manager who were extremely friendly and very helpful. Maybe not the most luxurious place I stayed in but very nice nonetheless.
