The Abbey of Pontlevoy, a national historical monument situated in the Loire Valley, was constructed in 1034. The Abbey offers a unique educational setting due to its rich history, traditional French gardens, and boasts a variety of architecture, including the renowned chapel and the main abbey building. The Eur-Am Center/Abbey hosts different American and European universities and associations, conferences, seminars, festivals, expositions and concerts throughout the year.
While the Abbey is not being occupied by specific programs, we offer rooms to those visiting the wonderful town of Pontlevoy, the Loire Valley, or just passing through. A stay at the Abbey provides you with an experience unlike many others. It gives adventurers an opportunity to be engulfed by the centuries of French culture, architecture, landscaping, and tranquility.
The rooms are an efficient size at an extremely affordable price per night. The rooms accommodate anywhere between 1-3 people. Each room consists of oak beds, desks, arm chairs, armoires, in stock heater, half or full bathrooms with standing showers, and Wi-Fi. Though the Abbey bedrooms do not include televisions or typical modern appliances, as an extra perk, each room provides you with a different, but magnificent view of the Abbey grounds. On the grounds of the Abbey there is a salle de theatre, cathedral, French garden, gathering halls, and kitchen. A stay at the Abbey of Pontlevoy does not include continental breakfast, but the Abbey is within walking distance to a newly renovated Bakery, a café/restaurant and a pizzeria where a variety of savory delights are sure to please everyone.
The Abbey is located in the center of the quaint village of Pontlevoy and allows you to take a true break from reality, providing you with a step back in time. With a stay at the Abbey you will have the opportunity to explore the 5.85 hectares acres of wonderful nature, landscaping, history, and architecture.
