• Getting to Playa Avellanas:
• If your trip is starting from the International Airport, you need to follow the signs to Santa Ana and Escazu. On the main highway to Santa Ana and Escazu (Prospero Fernandez) you will have to continue driving on the highway # 27 with direction to Caldera. From Caldera/Barranca you will have to continue going on North direction and follow the signs to Liberia. You will need to make a left turn at the sign for Puente (Bridge) La Amistad. Follow that road, cross the bridge and head towards Nicoya and Santa Cruz which is 1 hour away.
• Once in Santa Cruz look for the gas station on the right hand side of the road after this you will cross over a small bridge where you have to make a left turn following the signs to Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra. You will arrive to San Jose Pinilla which is a small village with a soccer field in the middle, keep following. Just keep following the road and about 5 mins from hear you will reach the Hotel Mediterraneo on your left hand side.
