Houseboats are unique in the world to Kashmir valley. For the visitor to Srinagar, staying in a houseboat is an out of world experience. The houseboat came into being during the British Era, when the Maharaja of Kashmir refused them permission to build on dry land. The resourceful Britishers took to the water, living in ornate houseboats. The style has hardly changed from the first houseboat built by Mr. Conard in 1888 right down to boats being built today and Since then the houseboat become mascots of Kashmir Tourism and gained a worldwide acclaim.
Three houseboats are moored to the island, each with its own porch facing north across the open water. The “New Golden Flower“ group of houseboats owned by the Dunoo family. Our boats are categorized in the Deluxe category and each boat has an assorted number of three to four bedrooms with an attach bathroom. The houseboats also have a fine dining area, a lounge cum sitting room, a large front seated balcony, a sun deck, 24 hours power back up, clean water supply and with a cuisine and service cultivated over many decades and handed down from one generation to the next. Each of our houseboats has a cook and a care taker who work for you during your entire stay.
