• From San José, the most popular route is to take the narrow and winding old highway, which turns off the Interamerican Highway just west of Alajuela near the town of Atenas and joins the Costanera Highway near Orotina. Just follow the many signs to hotels in either Jacó or Manuel Antonio. When you reach Jacó, it’s a straight shot and another hour to Manuel Antonio.
• Alternatively, you could try the route beginning in Ciudad Colón, a western suburb of San José, and then head out to Puriscal and join the Costanera Highway either near Parrita or Orotina. The route that heads to Parrita is the shortest route, but some sections are not paved and others are in rough shape. Nevertheless, locals often use it, especially during the dry season. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended, but normal two-wheel-drive sedans can usually make it. The route to Orotina is paved the entire way. It is slightly longer than the more popular route mentioned above and not as well marked, but since it passes over a narrow suspension bridge, there are never any trucks or commercial traffic.
• As you approach Queposthe road veers to the right. The right is the paved road and takes you into Quepos. In About 2 Km (1.5 miles), you’ll cross a bridge, and enter Quepos. Stay to the left after the bridge. On your left, you will pass Café Milagro, Gran Escape and other businesses. This is the town of Quepos. Continue past the businesses and once you pass the little park on your left, turn left. Now that you turned left, continue straight for approximately 1 mile. You will arrive at an intersection with a soccer field on your immediate left, and businesses on your right. Turn right and head up the hill. This is the way to Manuel Antonio. Your almost there! As you head up the hill, you will pass Mono Azul on your right, and Club Sirena on your left. You will also pass the river rafting building on your left Amigos Del Rio. They usually have a big Yellow School bus under the sign. If it is night time there is a sign that has lights called Ronny’s Place across the street from Amigos Del Rio; Just pass Amigos del Rio you will get to a one way bridge; slow down a bit; you are getting closer; follow up the hill till you see “Mar y Luna Restarant” on your right side; Take the next left at Villa Lirio Hotel and drive straight up till you get to “Super & Carniceria Blanco” and turn right 100 meters; Natural Pacific Suites is Welcoming you.
