ow the Philippines is not the easiest place to navigate, the cities are big and bustling and there are not to many street signs. So by all means print this page, you can use it as a reference and show your transport driver.
As a rule, Taxi's are supposed to use the meter, but at airports this is overlooked and they will ask for more, a ride from the airport to our place should cost under 200P but they will ask for up to 800P, if you can get into one for under 300P give yourself a pat on the back! Yes it is a time to let your haggling skills begin. Tip- don't be to stubborn, you may have to give in at say 350P or 400P, or you may just stand in the sun all day! It is the only time that you should allow 'no meter', any other time you get into a taxi always check to see that they click it on, never accept 'special price'. The starting fare is always 30P which is around a dollar in most western currencies.
Jeepnees are the most fun you can have sitting down, they are noisy loud and belch blue smoke, but watching them weave in and out of traffic is skilful to say the least. As for the conductors, young boys, yelling out the destination as they hang dangerously on the back step, they can run and catch the jeepnee in full flight and jump off when still moving rather fast. If you are up for a challenge, try 'hanging' as they do, when the jeepnee is full, or passengers only have a short ride, there can be 5 or 6 'hangers' on the back. A Jeepnee ride costs 8P a 'ride' and sometimes you need 2 'rides' to get where you need to go.
Landmarks are a great way to find your way around Cebu, so the city circle is a good starting point as to what direction you need to head in to find us. We are located opposite the lighthouse restaurant and one block from the very visible (from plane or boat) 'Iglesia Ni Cristo' Church with its enormous spires.
