• Driving instructions:
• If you look on Google maps you can find Moncion, but it does not get exact enough to provide any street directions. Many of our streets have no name or sign on them, so it would be difficult going by that anyway. If you can get yourself to Mao from Santiago, then it's just a couple more directions from there to Moncion.
• Once you get into Mao, find "Carretera Santiago Rodriguez." it's a main road that passes right in front of the Mao police/army base. You want to take that heading South. On google maps, I think it's the road that says "Calle Duarte." Every road in the Dominican is named Duarte, so when asking for directions just ask for the directions to Moncion if you get lost (which I don't think you will). Take the carretera straight until you get to a check point right by a corner store called Parada Valdez. There is a fork in the road at that store and the sign to the left says "Moncion" Turn Left. Take that road (which also happens to be named Duarte) straight until you get to Moncion. You will pass through a couple smaller towns (los quemados, los pinos), just continue on the main paved road. When entering Moncion you will see a fountain roundabout and the road curves to the left. Continue on that road until you get to the Texaco Gas Station. Park there and give Julia a call. The house is at the end of a "callejon" and is a bit hard to find, she'll walk up and guide you the rest of the way.
• Using Public Transportation:
• 1)EXPRESS. From the airport get a taxi (~$20US) to Linea Altagracia bus station at 70 Salvador Cucurullo. Linea Alatagracia is a direct bus to Moncion that only runs twice a day, Mon-Sat, 10am and 5pm. The cost is 180 pesos. It does not run on Sundays. Make sure it is the Luis Mendez bus- their number is: 809-582-4065. Ask to be dropped off at "la Bomba Texaco en la duarte".
• 2)LOCAL. From the airport get a taxi (~150pesos) to 30 de marzo bus station. Take the Bello Altardecer Espreso a Mao to mao for 120 pesos. Ask to get dropped off "donde puede coger la guagua a Moncion." From there get on the van to Moncion (~60pesos) and ask to get dropped off at the Bomba Texaco (pronounced tesacko), where we will be awaiting your arrival.
