Wroclaw, located on the Odra River, is a trade center whose importance has spanned from the Medieval Ages through today; its geographical location has always been important. All these cultures have left their imprint on Wroclaw and logically it was selected as the European Culture Capital in 2016.
Wroclaw’s most interesting landmarks are the Tumski Ostrow (Tumski Island) with the Wroclaw Cathedral (built in the tenth century), the Wroclaw Town Hall, the University of Wroclaw, the National Ossoliński Institute, and the Church of St. Giles. Wroclaw is one of the best cities in Europe for a pub crawl -- the city has plenty of nightclubs and bars to satisfy any taste. Moreover, a lot of them are open the whole week; covers are not expensive. It is also a very sport city and has hosted European Championships for several sports such as football and basketball.
There are many hostels in Wroclaw and the competition is fierce, so if you are staying for longer and/or you are a bigger group, you might well ask for a discount at your Wroclaw hostel.
