"This hostel was absolutely lovely, a nice change from the busier hostels in the cities and you are made very welcome by the family atmosphere here. The rooms are small but comfortable - what more do u need. It is located perfectly to get to kaikoura's attractions - the seal colony! and whale watching. It has a beautiful garden, with spa and gorgeous views of the mountains. Make sure you get down to the beach and take in the night sky, you won't see anything like it in the cities. "This is a great hotel/backpackers. It is warm and cozy and welcoming. It has a big lounge with pool table and lots of couches for watching TV. That is, if you can take your eyes off the artifacts on the walls and suspended from the ceiling. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The room I had was very comfortable. The walls upstairs are adorned with interesting photos set in their own unique frames; it's well worth an hour or so just looking. It has a very creative outdoor area for summer.
