Greymouth Albergues   "You can’t miss the bright-purple building right in the center of downtown Greymouth -- it's Duke Backpackers, a colorful, friendly, and comfortable hostel. The building houses not only the hostel, but also a bar and internet cafe. Everyone staying in the hostel receives a voucher for a free beer at the bar.

The staff are warm and welcoming, the decor is great, and the facilities are fantastic. They really make an effort with the details, with towels supplied in rooms, hairdryers in the bathrooms, plants in the rooms and communal areas, etc. Free kayaks and bicycles are available, which is great as other hostels typically charge for these. The... "This is a really fun little hostel with a quirky theme. The rooms each have a different animal theme (from Noah's Ark). There is the Tiger Room, the Zebra room, the Bear Room, the Sheep Room, etc. Inside the room are pictures, posters, murals, and sometimes stuffed toys based on the theme of the given room. The rooms themselves are comfortable and clean and have plenty of space.

Revingtons is a gracious old building which boasts a good deal of history, having been a focal point of Greymouth since 1876. Location
Neptunes Backpacker hostel is located on the outskirts of Greymouth next to the main road. The owners can pick you up from the train station if you arrive on the TransAlpine train. Otherwise the Magic Bus stop is at the door of the hostel. Greymouth is a gloomy little town -- it has all you can expect, but...(Dunollie) "yes, it's a bit of an old place, and perhaps needs redecoration. However it has character, and it makes a change from staying in pristine hostels which can be a bit austere. The kitchen facilities are a bit poor, but adequate for a small number of travelers.
