The hostel earlier used to be an old mansion, which was converted into one of the first air-conditioned malls in Penang. The mall did not do too well and it was then decided by the owners to convert the place into a backpacker hostel. This hostel has sufficient room and is not very crowded, making... "This hostel and café is new this year and pretty original for Georgetown (Penang). Downstairs is a tiled café with a DVD/music area to become a restaurant eventually, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry for use by guests, a snooker games room and massage area.
There's an Indian-Japanese element here with the mattresses just on the floor (no beds) and drapes hanging from the ceiling with soft multi coloured lights in the corners. It's a bit of a stepping stone thing to get to your bed!...
