"The Kisoji-Furusato Youth Hostel is located outside the town of Nakatsugawa which lies on the historic Nakasendo Highway, the major route between Kyoto and Tokyo (or Edo as it was then known) from the 8th-mid 19th centuries. The section of Nakasendo Highway through the Kiso Valley is now famous for a series of historic post towns.
This hostel is a great point from which to explore the region, particularly the best preserved post towns, Magome and Tsumago.
