Treviso, Veneto, Italy, is not on top of the list for most people visiting Italy. Many people however do pass by Treviso, but almost all move on without having a look around, which is a pity.
Treviso is only a half-hour away from Venice, Italy, and is home to the airport, which pretty much all budget airlines like Ryanair use for their flights to Venice. Although there are frequent direct buses from Treviso Airport to Venice, it is worth exploring Treviso. While Venice is a stunning city, Treviso feels much more like a typical Italian city, but without the big crowds that you can find in many other Italian cities. It is even cheaper to take a city bus from the airport to Treviso’s city centre than a direct bus to Venice. So unless your time is very limited, there is no reason to skip Treviso.
Getting around Treviso is easy. Treviso is a small city and everywhere you may want to go is within walking distance. The city is not rich in sites that you will want to check off your list, but the architecture is pretty and the city’s vibe is pleasant. You certainly cannot leave Treviso without trying tiramisu, which originates here. There is not much to do for tourists outside the city centre, so this is where you will want to book your Treviso, Veneto, Italy hostel. Most people do not stay for more than one night in Treviso, if they stay overnight in Treviso at all. Others however, stay for several days. As hostels on Venice’s islands can be very expensive and the hostels on Venice’s mainland can be hard to reach by public transport, booking a hostel in Treviso, Veneto, Italy, and visiting Venice as one or more day trips can be considered by those on a tight budget. As mentioned previously, Venice is only half an hour away by train and the tickets only a few euro. Other day trips you can do from Treviso include a visit to Padua or a trip to explore a wine road.
