I have been taking sixth form students to Brookside Hostel since 1992 and can recommend it highly. It is a superb hostel and the proprietor, Richard Bartley is a fabulous host and the true epitome of the word gentleman.
In fact, I'm going out again this year -- that's seventeen... "Sean (owner) was wonderful. It's interesting to know the hostel used to be his father's car repair garage. He passed away and Sean took it over. Eventually, he turned it into this lovely hostel. It was the first hostel that had a bathmat. That was a real treat. The kitchen may have been small but it was clean. The view from our room was lovely. We ate dinner on the fire escape which was charming even though there is a dining room. We also liked being able to sit out front at the patio table...Seaview Sea View
