"This is one of the best hostels I've been to in many years of traveling. Many people who are traveling there have been going there year after year, and for good reason. Plakias is a top-notch hiking spot, with mountains, caves, and waterfalls. You can get a guidebook of local hiking spots at the store in town. There are good places to go snorkeling (it's on Crete's southern coast), and the restaurants are cheap and have good food. The hostel is a great place to sit under a tree to read a book, or to meet and talk with other travelers.... more »
