Clean, safe, great location
The Astor Hyde Park hostel is a great place to stay. The rooms, linens, and bathrooms were all spotlessly clean. Each bed has a cubby underneath you can lock with your own lock (you can get one for #5). I'm not a partier so I can't comment on those aspects. I spent a few evenings in the common room and it was a fun lively vibe with movies on the television. The hostel is a bit far from the tube (about a 10 minute walk which is not fun in the rain after a long day of sightseeing), but is very close to the Natural Science Museum, Albert Hall, and Victoria & Albert if those are on your todo lists. You can do laundry for #2.50 for wash and #0.50 for 20 mins dry and there is no real competition for the machine. In all a good spot for a few days in London!

Decent
This hostel was nice ... clean, safe, and good space. Overall atmosphere wasn't great ... it was rather quiet. I'm not a hard partier, but it was a bit quiet for my tastes. The location is convenient, but not super. I'd like something a bit closer to everything. This one is in the middle of the swanky area with embassies around.

Overall pretty great
Astor Hyde Park is in a pretty good location, minutes away from gigantic Hyde Park Natural History museum, and Royal Albert Hall, and in a rather swanky part of town, with embassies and fancy hotels all around. There is free breakfast (mostly toast and cereal, plus coffee and tea), and free WiFi throughout the whole hostel (which is good for the most part, though it had the frustrating habit of dropping the connection when I would try to upload a lot of pictures). The reception staff are all really nice, and it is open 24hrs, which helps when you have to catch an early flight. The only major negative about the hostel is that it is in an ancient building with NO ELEVATOR, so if you're not in reasonable shape, getting to the upper floors with your luggage might be a bit much. All the more reason to pack light though, right?

Nice clean place, very friendly staff, overall really good
had a great time & the staff was really friendly and helpful, They would go the extra mile to make sure that people are enjoying their stay. I would say the only issue was that the wifi did not extend to the rooms. And that the WiFi was extremely slow.

Well-maintained, clean, and good location.
Overall, the hostel is well maintained. The location is clean and accessible and the staff are friendly. It is a chain hostel however, so you will have to expect the variables that come with that. I am sure others had different experiences, however when I stayed there for a few days, everyone seemed to stick to their own in an almost high school-like fashion. Unfortunately, it wasn't the most amiable place for me. Computers were slow at times and breakfast was basic. Otherwise, this is just nit-picking considering you're there to travel. Decent place.

Great hostel, friendly and helpful staff, nice small community feel.
This was a good hostel, I was happy with my booking. I called and was placed in a long-term stay room of only three other girls, so it was a small bunch. Not too much noise or anything. The building is a nice, historic building, the windows opened in my room, which was really important to me. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They knew the city well and were able to answer almost all of my questions. One thing though, there's no elevator! The stairs are a huge pain in the butt, but it was a workout for sure! Tall ceilings too, so expect extra walking. Breakfast was included, so that was good. Very basic, sometimes I'd skip it because it wasn't worth waking up for, but it was basic and if you're hungry it'll do the trick. Free Wi-Fi was a huge plus. no difficulties connecting unlike at other hostels I've been to, all good. Computers available for internet. Kitchen. This hostel had everything. It was right at Hyde Park, which is a gorgeous park. Very central. Excellent value. I'd definitely stay here again and I recommend it. The people are nice. Some hostel workers at other places are jerks and seem to hate their jobs, but these people seemed happy. Adds to the overall warm and fuzzy feeling of the place.
