This hostel is about a 20 minute walk from the bus station. Head towards the Market Square in the centre of the town, then look for Station Street after the tower/information centre. Follow the street until the river and go along Penrith Road on your right. It's another 10 minute walk along the road until after the fire station and Royal Mail depot.
The hostel looks a little untidy from the outside but the inside is quite well-furnished. There is no 24 hour reception, so be as precise as possible with arrival times. There is no curfew; access is provided by a single door with the security code made known to every guest.
The rooms are mainly large dorms with double-decker beds. The beds are fairly comfortable and linens are provided. There are no power outlets in the room itself though, and no lockers/shelves either. The showers/toilets are well-lit and clean, but a few more are probably needed.
The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and comes stocked with an unusually wide variety of condiments/spices. There is a separate area where you can get free hot drinks anytime. The TV room comes with vending machines which sells toiletries besides the usual drinks/tidbits. There is a large dining area which is apparently used as a function room by the general public. It is a great way to mingle with the locals. There is no internet access yet. Overall, a nice place to stay in, especially you intend to cook.
