The Hostel Sleepy Lion is a 10 minute walk from the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof main railway station (although in summer 2004 there were a lot of roadworks and diversions in the area, making the walk a little longer). It's located in a renovated old house close to the bars and restaurants on Barfussgasschen and Markt, the main square, and is easy to find. The building has a nice feel – and the facilities are better than what you would expect to find in the old east Germany.
The hostel overall is quite laid back with friendly staff and generally friendly guests. It is open 24 hours – which is especially convenient if you want to make the best of Leipzig's legendary nightlife.
The dorm rooms are kept clean, and the décor is different from the usual with unusual painted walls and flags of various nations everywhere. The ensuite bathroom is huge, kept spotlessly clean and the showers have reliably hot water all the time.
The common room is big, with windows facing onto the street and has a bar (with cheap drinks), comfy lounges, table-soccer, and internet access. There is also a smallish beer garden outside in which people can relax in the sun.
