Most guidebooks will tell you that the only hotel in Bosra is the Cham - and unless you want to pay a lot of money make Bosra a day trip. This is not entirely necessary as Bosra is worth more than a few hours. (And who wants to ride the bus twice in one day?) Go to the 1001 Night Restaurant next to the theater/citadel and ask for the owner Obeida. (He speaks Arabic, English, German, Italian and is fun to talk to.) Even if he is not there ask about staying the night. There is usually a special where if you have your dinner and breakfast in the restaurant (not incredibly expensive and the food is good - should be around $10-12 USD or less) you can stay for free. There is a large open room adjacent to his restaurant that he will let people sleep in (provided some blankets/pads etc.). It's not the most luxurious accomodations but fun actually and worth it. And you'll probaby make some friends.

| Localización | The hostelz & restaurant is right next to the citadel/theater and the people there can help you with just about anything in Bosra. If you need info/reservations for the bus back, want to buy antiques/souveiners or find a tour of the old city. If not, stop in for a cup of tea and chat. Nice place to take a break. Tip: Obeida is a tour guide for all of Syria and knows a lot of advice/info and can provide personal tours. You can learn a lot. |
