Great for Students
I stayed at the FIAP in 1999. I was traveling abroad with my university. I stayed there for five weeks with my group of ninety students from the U.S.A. The facility was clean. The rooms were small but provided enough space for my roommate and I. We each had our own twin size bed, closet, and desk space. We also had a walk in stand up shower, sink/vanity, and toilet in our room. Oh and there was an elevator. Thank goodness! The hostel was approximately two blocks from the metro station so it was fairly easy to go anywhere in the city via the metro. It also had a great outside area that provided plenty of social time with my group. There was also a very large lobby area for gathering. The staff were friendly and there were laundry facilities on site. This was very helpful. Some downsides to the facility include no air conditioning. We were there during the months of July and August and it gets hot there. I luckily had a room that provided a large window that slid open. This helped keep the temperature down in our room. However, some of the students in my group had rooms on the other side of the building. These rooms only provided a pop out window and not a sliding window. Their rooms were so hot during the day that it was impossible to stay in them. So, most of the students would spend the day in the rooms on our side of the building with sliding windows. It made a huge difference. We always had a huge crowd of students in our tiny room. Another down side was the cafeteria. My travel package provided two meals a day. Breakfast was good (how can you mess up fruit and cheese?) but the lunch was truly cafeteria style. I was not impressed with the food and after five weeks I was very happy to never eat there again. All in all it was a great life experience that I would never trade.
