Informe de Hostelz.com
Remember when you looked forward to going to stay overnight with your slightly eccentric Uncle? Well that pretty much sums up a stay at Juraj's Hostel. Juraj is the proprietor, receptionist, tour guide, handyman, and life of the hostel. He goes out of his way to make your stay in Bratislava enjoyable, from station pickups/drop offs to guiding you to all the best places to see (and eat and drink) to doing your laundry for free. He is always striving to satisfy.

The hostel is a ten-minute walk from the main train station. Exit the station and turn left past the Chemist, then follow the path and road that hug the tracks until you get to the underpass and you will see his (signless) house opposite at 28 Dobšinského. The easy fifteen-minute walk into the old town takes you past a daily outdoor market and the Presidential buildings, while the proximity to the station makes arrivals/departures and day trips to Vienna super easy.

Once inside you will see the building used to be multiple apartments which Juraj has opened up into dorms. The rooms are clean with beds of the on-ground variety, four to a room -- but this can be juggled to accommodate different-sized groups. Each mini apartment-dorm has its own bathroom and kitchenette, although most cooking and social activity is kept to the large TV/kitchen common area where there is also an Internet station for free use. The bathrooms have new fittings although the walls are finished in the same mid-renovation style of the rest of the building. The renovations are ongoing and may not be completed anytime soon, but this does not detract from the great feel of this hostel. If you are looking for a large impersonal hostel this is not for you, but if you want a chance to get to know the owner and feel at home, then you should come and stay with Juraj.

4 Good
Just a note when getting to the hostel from the airport, Bus 61 leaves directly outside the airport and runs late in the evening, and the last stop is the train station which is about ten minutes away from the hostel. Be sure to get some Slovakian small change from the airport (there is a desk there provided for this purpose) to put in the machine next to the bus stop. You cannot buy bus tickets on the bus, and the driver does not talk to those riding the bus. Buy enough tickets for the half-hour ride to the train station. You may want to double them up for your bags as sometimes you need to buy an extra ticket for big bags taking up lots of space. The fine for riding without a valid ticket is high. Stamp the ticket as soon as you get on the bus, and keep stamping a new ticket for every ten minutes on the bus (there is a little clock on the stamping machine). When you arrive at the train station, keep in mind the map on Juraj's website as the directions given on hostelz.com are poor. You might end up going down the first tunnel/underpass you find as I did and get lost. Go past this tunnel and follow the road by the train tracks until you reach the next tunnel under the railroad tracks. Juraj's is directly opposite this tunnel, and there is a little sign high up on the house (number 28). The road can get a little dark and scary if you arrive at night but I didn't have a problem arriving at around 10:30 p.m. on a Monday at full-moon.

5 Excellent hostel and service
We (a married couple) don't normally go to hostels, preferring private accommodation or cheap hotels. We decided to check this place out when Juraj approached us at the train station, it being moderately cheaper for the private double with en-suite compared to other hostel double en-suite rooms in the old town. The place is very clean and the kitchen facilities are great (PC and sat TV all working). Juraj is very helpful, going out of his way to make us feel welcome and recommend what we see and do in Bratislava. He also did our laundry for us -- how's that for service! We highly recommend this place to any traveler, including couples looking for a private room. You also won't have any problems communicating with Juraj as he speaks fluent English.

5 Great!
This is one of the cleanest, most well kept hostels I've ever been at. I got a single room for my 500SK which was great! It is a ten- to fifteen-minute walk downtown but it's worth it. A great place in a great town!

5 A very special and personal hostel
Very clean. The bedroom I stayed in seemed brand new and I was lucky enough to have a room to myself and share a bathroom with a few others. I think the price was very cheap as this accommodation seemed more like hotel quality than hostel. Juraj was probably the best part about the hostel -- Ive never met anyone so dedicated to their hostel. Take time to smell the roses -- they're gorgeous! Perhaps the only drawback is that its about a fifteen-minute walk to the old town. But it seemed that there weren't any decent hostels in the centre anyway.

4 Friendly, Clean, Relaxed, Homey
I arrived at the train station and was approached by Juraj, he seamed friendly and offered a good price for a place to stay. he took me personally to the hostel and was very friendly, he gave me good advice on the area and on how to get to Krakow. he did everything that he could to please, the beds were made for us and he even loaded and unloaded the dishwasher for us. the beds were comfortable, i was getting a late train and i was allowed to leave my bag at the hostel free of charge until i caught the train. it was good value for money and one of the best i have ever stayed in. there is a free laundry service, underfloor heating, and a fully equipped kitchen. if i am ever in the area again i will be staying there again.

5 A very good choice
We're a couple and booked a private room at this hostel. We haven't been disappointed. The hostel is very clean (Juraj don't stop cleaning all day long). There is a garden where you can take the breakfast or a beer till midnight. After this hour you must be quiet, and it was respected when we were here. There's two kitchens and three bathrooms. We never had to wait to take a shower. The station where you can take train to wien or budapest is near the hostel (but you don't hear the trains). The owner is very nice and can help you if you need informations.

5 Clean, convenient, good value
far from the madding crowd, yet close to train station and city centre. It is a good getaway to rest and relax or, as a stopover to stroll along the cobbled streets of bratislava and view the sights. For my friends and I, we Iove the warm, homey atmosphere and stayed for four nights, longer than we intended to. we rested before we continued traveling. Easy access to Internet and flexible check-out time is a great bonus. Juraj is kind, helpful, and friendly. I highly recommend juraj's hostel.

4 We had a good time at this hostel. Hostel has new bathroom and a new and modern, well-equipped kitchen. His runner, Juraj, has helped us in all ways he could -- maps, tips, friendly chats, a lift to the Autobusova Stanica (autobus station). we needed to change money and he did it. We met people from England and Malaysia and had chats with them. Juraj's hostel is a meeting point with a warm atmosphere. Still thank you a lot, Juraj! Enjoy Slovakia, its towns and landscapes are so beautiful.

5 This is my ideal place to stay when I travel. I got everything I wanted -- clean sheets, clean towel, an internet connection, a kitchen and refrigerator all included in the price. Juraj often exceeds your expectations because he even washes your laundry for you as long as you allow it enough time to air dry outside (weather permitting of course) and he is always offering helpful information to help make your visit excellent. Don't get snagged by other hostels who offer a cheaper rate, or the same rate, then charge you extra for internet or anything else. I recommend that you plant yourself here, then take day trips to see some amazing castles around the area. I will return here again, there is no question about it.

4 there is no bedbugs problem at all. it was an isolated case. I was at Juraj's recently and it is great! super is to find (just hug the left hand side all the way out of the train station until you reach the bridge), easy ten-minute walk into old city, fast internet, cable TV, relaxed, comfy beds, good kitchen. It was a very enjoyable stay, and Juraj is a good guy.

1 Arrived at this hostel with enthusastic optimism. After meeting Juraj, random character at best, we were explained partly the ins and outs and showed to available rooms. After selecting a room with Juraj we left our luggage and proceeded to check out the town. After returning and a shower we retired only to find our room infested with bed bugs. We alerted Juraj and he said that he knew about it but still put us in there regardless in total disregard for us and our packs. We moved all our stuff to another room, noisy in the main kitchen, and was given no real appology or offered a refund. We asked him to inform the rest of his guests and to check their rooms. He did no such thing so we did it for him as he was totally negligent to everyones well being. We would not recommend this hostel as Juraj was deceitful and as there was many other beds available he still decided to put people in the bed bug-infested room.

1 To start with this hostel was strange, but we gave it a go. Juraj seemed like a nice guy. we were to find out otherwise when we found out there was bed bugs and he new about it. it was only a problem in two rooms but he still put us in there even though there were other rooms available. not happy that he did this knowingly. he didnt even offer a refund or anything to make up for this. so if you're happy to get bed bugs then by all means go and have a nice time.

5 I don't know what could I say about this place, other than it's great. Comfortable beds and the best owner ever who is always willing to help! Location is good, the place is quiet and still near enough to the town.
