Sophie Hostel

Sophie Hostel is your home away from home in Argentina. This large, century old house has been remodelled to provide modern, comfortable rooms with all facilities and a warm welcoming atmosphere for the guests.

Three dormitories with 6 beds in each and a bathroom ensuite. Each bed has its own personal light and personal locker. The two large double rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

A fully equipped kitchen is provided for use by the guests. Breakfast is included in the price and there is free tea, coffee and mate all day. Superb home cooked meals can also be arranged on request.

There is a large open living room with real log fire, cable television, DVD player, library and book exchange, table football, and board games. And a permanent exhibition of art by local artists.

In the large garden there is a huge barbecue and tranquility amidst the palm trees. A great place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Or, if you are feeling athletic, play basketball.

Should you feel like leaving the hostel and exploring the region then there are many things to do: Visit two national parks where you can walk through the palm tree groves or go horse riding or canoeing. Take a 4x4 safari or a guided field trip (there are more than 350 species of bird in the region). Go hunting for semi-precious stones. Take a nautical safari on the River Uruguay and visit the virgin uninhabited islands in the river and go for a jungle walk.

Visit the Palace of San Jose, former home of General Urquiza. Relax in one of the three thermal pool complexes (one of them with salt water), take a historical journey to the town of Liebig or ride the old train from Villa Elisa to San Jose. Maybe visit the butterfly museum or the national historic monument of Forklaz Mill.

There is plenty of nightlife to enjoy in Colon with ample pubs, restaurants and discos near to the hostel and a casino for those with money to burn.
