Patagonia Lodge is small and friendly with basic accommodations and few frills. The location is good for going out in Nueva Cordoba, the main nightclub district, but the hostel itself is not overly loud and doesn't have a partying atmosphere.
Location
Finding this hostel can be a little tricky on foot. If you have big bags and/or weary feet, it's probably best to spring for a cab. Buses don't go there directly and the street is not well-marked. Basically, walk down San Juan from the bus station for eight blocks, turn left on Obispo Trejo y Sanabria, walk about six blocks until you cross F. Rivera and begin looking for the hostel on your left in the next block. Cordoba's streets can be a bit confusing, but once you've gotten to the hostel the first time, you should be able to get back on your own without any trouble.
Common Spaces
The hostel is small, so the reception area is pretty simple with the living room/lounge area off to the side. Your payment option is cash only. There is no official luggage storage, but you can stash a bag near the desk. With the front door locked at all times and the staff person near at hand, leaving big packs here is safe enough -- it's best to still take your valuables with you though. Internet computers are also just off the reception area but they are not free. The rate is very competitive with nearby internet cafes, so use the computer here if you don't feel like going out.
There is a patio at the back of the hostel with a table and chairs -- nothing fancy, but a nice place to spend a few afternoon hours. The living room area at the front of the hostel is small but it does have a TV and movies to borrow. Otherwise the main gathering area is the dining table in the kitchen. A rather sparse breakfast is served here too.
The kitchen is a big and clean with an equally big dining area that served as a second hang-out spot. Everything you need to cook is on hand and a grocery store is just two blocks away.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms vary in size and are coed. The bunk beds aren't the most comfortable but certainly aren't terrible. No lockers in the rooms although a few small, bring-your-own-lock ones were in an upstairs hallway for first-come-first-serve. Rooms appear relatively clean although not much cleaning seems to happen when rooms are full. Ceiling fans keep the rooms cool, but can be a little noisy. Linen is included but not towels.
Several single-user bathrooms are scattered around the hostel so there's usually not a problem getting one. Fixtures are old but clean overall. Water pressure is decent and hot water comes quickly.
Summary
In short, this hostel is for folks not looking for luxury, but generally it's a good value and clean.
