Informe de Hostelz.com
Centric Point is one of three Equity Point Hostels in Barcelona. Located in a beautiful converted apartment block on the prestigious shopping street Passeig de Gracia, it is within easy walking distance of the famous La Rambla and is very close to the Passeig de Gracia metro station. The hostel is equipped with two elevators, allowing access for disabled guests.

The Location

The location of Centric Point on Passeig de Gracia makes it perfect for visitors to Barcelona hoping to shop until their bags burst! Some of the cities most prestigious shops such as Burberry and Cartier are located here, as well as many more accessible to the average traveler! Also located very close to the hostel are several of Antoni Gaudi's most famous buildings -- a must for all visitors to Barcelona.

The neighbourhood is very safe (though all visitors to Barcelona should be aware of rampant pickpocketing, particularly of tourists) and guests should feel comfortable at night. There are many bars and restaurants in the area to suit all budgets, as well as being close to several supermarkets for self-caterers.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Centric Point offers accommodation from doubles to dorms. Dorms are spacious and exceptionally clean, and are furnished with bunk beds, lockers, and coat racks. Beds have individual reading lights and many rooms are en-suite. Additionally, there are bathrooms on each floor consisting of approximately three toilets and showers per gender. Rooms are accessed by key card.

Common Spaces

Centric Point has several comfortable communal areas. A rooftop terrace and bar has great views over the area and is a relaxing place to hang out on a summer's evening. The large breakfast dining area functions as a second communal area. As well as tables and chairs for meals, the area has a large TV with bean bags and six internet terminals (first twenty minutes free, then paid). Unfortunately, due to the provision of a bar, guests are not allowed to consume their own alcoholic drinks in these areas (or in their rooms).

The hostel has a small guest kitchen, accessible outside of breakfast hours, furnished with two ovens/hotplates; two microwaves; and some plates, cups, and cutlery. There are also a number of vending machines.

Centric Point is a fun, social hostel catering to many different types of travelers. Guests are required to identify themselves upon entry, ensuring that undesirables are not able to enter the building.

Summary

Centric Point is a fantastic hostel, particularly for those not used to hosteling/backpacking. It would also suit group travelers looking to book entire dorms to cut on costs. A simple breakfast and the pillowcase and bottom sheet are provided free of charge. Unfortunately bunk beds do not offer a great deal of privacy, though en-suite bathrooms can be used for changing. Centric Point is in an excellent area that really displays Barcelona's vibrancy and beauty.

Be careful about booking here
Don't be fooled by the pretty pictures of this hostel. Me and my girlfriend recently booked a private room here for two nights at 90 Euros per night! When we arrived we were excited cos it looked promising. Nice building from the outside, nice lobby, excellent location. When we got to the room however it was a dingy windowless (well there was a small window that looked across three feet to a dirty concrete wall) hellhole. The room hadn't been cleaned at all when we had arrived, but we were told that it would be. The only thing that was done that day was that the sheets had been changed but the new ones had hairs all over them. There were hairs all over the floor of the room and in the shower drain. The room that we'd been put in was directly across from the exit from the common room and bar of the hostel so we barely slept the first night for people coming and going an being generally loud. The drainage pipes must have run just behind the wall of this room cos there was a constant sound of running water all night just to add to the misery. The lockers here require you to bring your own padlock (not required in most good hostels) or buy one from the desk. The guy on the desk gave us no alternative and fobbed us off with the fully booked excuse. It might sound like I'm being unrealistic about what I expected but after recently touring Thailand together and staying in many hostels that offer far more for much less then you resent being ripped off Barcelona. My advice is not to stay here, or at least not on the second floor. It is centrally located but you can get much better hostels a bit further out where you'll get more comfort and less hassle for your money.

Fun, Clean, Great Location!
This hostel was really clean and nice, the rooms are pretty spacious even when they have twelve beds in there. The bar is lots of fun and they have a nice continental breakfast. You might have to stand in line for the computers, but they are free! This hostel is right in the middle of some of Barcelona's best shopping and restaurants. The security was great, they check your ID when you come in, and they have big lockers in every room. The staff was so helpful -- I'd recommend taking advantage of their daily excursions and other offers. I took the Tapas Tour and we went to a restaurant, flamenco bar, and out for drinks for 18€. The only bad part is they don't give you a top sheet, just a bottom sheet to put on your mattress. If you want another sheet or a towel, it is 2€. It was really cold in our room and I didn't have a top sheet or a blanket so I had to roll up in my bottom sheet like a burrito.

Mediocre Hostel at best
The location is alright, though I would have preferred a location closer to the Gothic Quarter. There is a frat-boy mentality to this hostel whereas it's populated mostly by spoiled Americans. If your looking for an authentic Catalonia experience, don't come here. The beaches at Barcelona are nothing special.

Great facilities, great location, very clean, fun atmosphere
Stayed August 2007. This hostel was fantastic. It's in an excellent location, which is really easy to find. They are really mindful of security and you can't get into the building without showing your security pass, even in the daytime. There's also security cards for the doors and good sized lockers. They also make a big (and successful) effort to keep all the partying noise in the bar and common room areas. This means if you want to sleep you actually can, which is great. However at 8 a.m. they have their own music blaring from the common room for breakfast. The rooms are really modern and very clean (although I am not sure our shower was cleaned too thoroughly given we had five girls in our room and the hair in the drain seemed to build up so we were standing in about an inch of water when showering). This was only a minor issue as the place was so nice that one issue seemed worth all the other good things. Free breakfast (stale bread, fruit, cereal, juice) was edible and good as it was free. Free internet is fantastic and you never have to wait long. When i was there i didn't find too many solo travelers but hung out with a few people, which is good. People are considerate, fun but not too crazy. Lots of people from all over the world were there. All in all i would definitely stay there again.

Great location, great atmosphere, great hostel!
This was my first ever experience of staying in a hostel and it is fair to say that I was not really looking forward to it. However, on arriving at Centric Point I was massively surprised. The hostel has a great location and is really easy to find. It was exceptionally clean and the rooms were a good size, ours had an en-suite bathroom. Breakfast was included in the price and was actually really good. It consisted of cereal, toast, muffins, fruit, yogurt, tea/coffee and you could eat as much as you wanted. The bar in the hostel was great and by far the cheapest place to drink that we found in Barcelona. If you are looking for a budget place to stay in Barcelona I would definitely recommend Centric Point.

I arrived and they hadn't received my booking. There were no bottom sheets or pillowcases left, and they charge for blankets and a top sheet. Only two showers and two toilets for several rooms full of people. The internet kept going down. The hostel kitchen is too small for the seven hundred people the hostel holds. Good points were a great breakfast and fair location in the city. It is also very clean and has good security. It's an alright place but just too big!

One of the best value for money hostels i've stayed in. Rooms are large with en-suite and air con. Free breakfast is great as is the huge common room and free internet. The location was not the most fantastic if you want to be near the gothic part of town but with the Metro in Barcelona, it's only a quick two stops away. Staff were friendly enough and always helpful when questions were asked. I'd stay here again.

it was simple but pleasant. the location is perfect being close to shops, walking distance from many sights, and with easy transport to the beach on the doorstep. the bar area was a nice space to spend time in with the opportunity to meet people from many different places. the hostel did however change the rooms we booked to larger dorms with no connected bathroom which was less convenient. overall i'd recommend the hostel and i'm planning to return next year.

Centric point was by far the best hostel i stayed at on my trip to Europe. The staff was so friendly, and there were so many people all around. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, i couldn't ask for anything more. There is a big lounge area where they have breakfast, and at night they play music and the bar is pretty hopping. Also, a nice TV and free internet! Definitely stay here.

This hostel is ideal location as it is located two minutes from city center (Plaza Catalunya). Some good things I observed during three nights' stay at Centric Points are that it's very clean and has friendly staff. There's an Aerobus A1 stop just opposite hostel, from where you can take bus to Barcelona airport. The prices are reasonable and it's open twenty-four hours. It is one hundred meters from eating outlets and is just opposite to the tourist bus stop where you can take open-top buses for Barcelona sightseeing. Indeed a good option for decent price.

This hostel is quite new and the location is great, very close to the metro station. The decoration and the breakfast is good. The common area is also good with free internet access. The bathroom is large but the room is a bit small and the ventilation is not too good. The efficiency of the reception is a bit low. Overall I still recommend this hostel.

I just have been a week to Barcelona and stayed at the Centric Point. The hostel is just amazing. Nice staff, clean rooms, and everything was just perfect. Also the bar is very nice.

I didn't even make it to this hostel. My reservation was cancelled or rather moved before my arrival. The hostel it was moved to was in an unacceptable location, and hasn't received the best reviews on hostel Web sites. Therefore I lost my deposit and service charge in canceling the booking, and have now spend the past day frantically trying to find accommodation two days before arriving in summer. Not happy! Here's what I received from them: Dear Guest, As a result of a sudden closure of Centric Point Hostel we have moved your booking to one of our hostels in Barcelona. The City Hall has temporarily closed our hostel to inspect safety installations. We apologise for any inconvenience this change has caused to you and we hope you enjoy your stay in Barcelona. Your reservation has been moved to: La Ciutat Hostel Carrer Alegre de Dalt, 66 t. +34.932130300 Metro Stop: Joanic (yellow line).
