Informe de Hostelz.com
Located less than one hundred meters from the Munich Hauptbahnhof and within walking distance of most Munich attractions; the newly constructed Wombat City Hostel is a backpacker's dream. The modern spacious facilities are freshly painted with vibrant colors. The dorm rooms are cozy and the beds are clean and comfortable. Though the spiral staircase and lovely courtyard seem reminiscent of a fancy hotel, this is a hostel with cheap dorm rooms and an active social atmosphere for every need. Offering everything that the famous hostel that's just a few doors down on Senefelderstrasse offers and more, this hostel will very likely win its own hostel awards in years to come.

The close proximity of the hostel to the train station makes day trips to the Ludwig castles or to the Dachau concentration camp really easy and convenient. Information on most Munich attractions is available from the international staff members who are friendly, helpful, and eager to please. The several computers connected to the Internet are not cheap, but are very convenient to have within the hostel.

A luggage room is available to store luggage before checking in or after checking out. Clean bedsheets and a locker key for the dorm room lockers are provided at check-in, as well as a complimentary drink at the bar. The eight-person dorm room consists of two four-person dorm rooms (each room having two bunk beds) connected and sharing a common bathroom and shower. These rooms have sky windows and are very quiet.

The bar is the social place to be, where young people congregate for reasonably priced eating, drinking, socializing, and billiards. In contrast, the indoor courtyard is lovely and is the ideal place for a quiet, restful, smoke-free conversation. Whatever you are looking for, this hostel has it.

Large hostel but feels a little more homey than most large hostels.
Four stars for this one because it is so well run. minus a star for still feeling somewhat like a large moneymaking hostel. the wintergarden is a nice touch but always occupied when i was there. breakfast is good and diverse for a picky eater. down side is the par is overpriced and closes early, but then again this is munich. go to a beer hall instead. literally steps away from the train station!

Solid and Fun Place to Stay
I'd never stayed at a Wombat's hostel before, but now I plan on staying at the others when I hit Vienna and Berlin. This hostel is located close to the main Hbf which is convenient and was a safe, clean, and fun place to stay. The staff are helpful; the rooms are just the right size; the bar is cheap and a good place to kick a night off; and the hostel is close to lots of places to get food, re-supply, and to sightsee. The free walking tour they offer (the guides work for tips so you can pay at the end if you liked it) was truly excellent, the guide Ozzy was informed, entertaining, and knew his stuff. It was summer when I stayed and the rooms were insanely hot, there's no AC or fans or anything. On the bottom floor there is a large room with beanbags and hammocks that you can chill out in that's about 20 degrees cooler than the rest of the hostel, but if you're going in summer it's something to plan for. I'd definitely stay there again if I went back to Munich, as hostels go it's got pretty much everything you want.

A mixture of emotions
like any other wombats hostel this one was clean, organized, and had spacious en-suite rooms. it's close to the train station, has a nice bar and hangout area, and you get a free drink on arrival (beer is small, wine is better deal). they allow smoking in the bar which sucks and because it's such a large hostel the place is just really noisy. the worst part is that there's no kitchen, and if breakfast isn't included in the price -- it isn't -- then a kitchen should be provided, even just a kettle and microwave. they provide a free walking tour, which isn't bad if you can bear the obnoxious, yet informative, guide.

Big hostel done right
This is the best big hostel I've stayed in (July 2007). It's very clean, bathrooms in room, close to the Hbf and city centre. The bar is pretty good, pumping every night, and theres the indoor garden with beanbags for chilling out when you want to relax. My advice, the first day you are there do the free city tour the hostel offers, you will meet plenty of people and have plenty of fun, we ended up in the Chinese Tower beer garden and then a whole bunch of us from the tour did an epic night out following, it's a brilliant (and free) way to see plenty of the city, orientate yourself, meet other travelers, and have fun. The tour desk is also really handy, they'll sort you out for a whole bunch of guided tours to attractions surrounding Munich. Its not perfect though, the rooms were ridiculously hot (it was a freakishly hot week that week though) which meant we had to leave the window open overnight and the street noise was pretty bad. Munich is a fun city and this is a very fun place to stay. The staff are also really cool, happy to give advice, and very helpful. Very happy with my stay at Wombats, I'd stay at Wombat's hostels in the future.

Great hostel for young people.
If you are young and like to have fun, this is the place. The bar was jamming and the hostel is huge and full of all kinds of people. Super clean and fast paced.

Mega-Sweet!
This hostel was huge, clean, and conveniently located a short walk from the train station. Our room was huge and clean. There was a large atrium with big comfy beanbag chairs to chill in and a huge bar. I would definitely stay here again!

The best hostel in Europe I've stayed in
This place is fantastic. Stayed here for four nights because I found a cheap plane ticket and needed to get away from work for a few days, but didn't feel like spending a lot. Upon arriving, I immediately knew I would like the place -- roomy and comfortable. The staff are great and speak perfect English (and some other languages too), the atrium is a nice place to take a break from seeing the city, the bar is a good way to get cheap(er) drinks, and is a nice perk for a hostel, and the rooms are out of this world. Six beds in a room that would normally hold ten at any other hostel. The en-suite bathroom is clean and the shower is fantastic -- always hot and powerful. I am hit or miss with hostels, in that sometimes I want to stay in them and sometimes I don't. this place, however, is someplace I will always want to stay in, even if I am rich someday!

Great place to stay
I stayed here for five nights during Oktoberfest 2006, I could have stayed for a month it was so much fun. I booked through my tour company but i think there was some issue with the computer or something and my booking was lost but the reception guys sorted me out a room for five days all on the day before O-fest started! Was fairly expensive 32 euros per night i think but during O-Fest everywhere was expensive and breakfast was free during this time. I think their normal rates are like less than half this. It was very clean and things were all pretty modern and nice. Rooms were big enough and the bar was loads of fun and the atrium lounge thing was cool to hang out in and meet people. It's pretty close to O-Fest grounds and real close to the trains and subways and fast food shops. Basically nothing bad to say about it, I am going back next time i'm in munich.

me and my sister only stayed in munich for two nights in april 2006 but it was awesome. close to the train station which is nice, staff were very helpful, rooms were clean and comfy. there was a couple families there at the same time as us and tended to hang around in the bar all night with their kids but would recommend this hostel to anyone and would stay here again.

I traveled for two weeks with my brothers and another female friend and this was the only mixed room we stayed in. We felt very secure with our own lockers, the beds were simple but comfortable, the staff was helpful, the bar was fun, and the location was really convenient to wander around the city. It would have been better to have the bathroom cleaned daily but it was difficult with everyone waking up at different times. Overall, we had a great time here.

I've stayed there on three different occasions. First, it was in a great location next to the train station. The rooms were clean and spacious, the toilet/showers were clean too with hot water. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were quiet despite the bar downstairs. But the breakfast was rather limited in variety. I also wished they offered more female-only dorms.

Very clean hostel. Well located near the train station. The rooms in the hostel are pretty big, the rooms have a locker and a large table with four chairs in the middle of the room. The bathroom and shower are super clean and usually somebody comes every morning and cleans them. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Breakfast is excellent.
