Informe de Hostelz.com
You may be familiar with the Meininger Hostels from their various sites around Berlin. Now they have built this hostel in München (Munich). This hostel claims to live up to a three-star hotel status, and seems to come pretty close. It’s around a fifteen-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), or you can take Tram Nineteen (towards Parsing) or Twenty (towards Gondrellplatz) stopping at the Holzapfelstrasse stop. While the front might not be much to look at, they defiantly strive to offer lots to its visitors inside.

The hostel is very large with around three hundred beds. Even so, they take good care of the rooms and make sure they are clean. The same, however, can not be said for the showers. The in-room shower had mildew and mold growing on the walls and ceiling, which severely deterred us from using it. Since each room has its own shower, this may not be the case with all showers, but it left a very large impression in our minds. Other than that, the rooms are comfortable with beds that are above average in comfort, TVs in every room, and balconies to go out on.

What stands out most is what they offer. The staff is friendly and is proficient in English. They offer a free, all-you-can-eat, German-style breakfast buffet which runs from seven to 10 AM, which is a nice way to start off your day. They offer a free walking tour of Munich, which lasts a few hours. They have a brightly neon-lit game room with a pool table, foosball table (kicker), and darts as well as a TV with satellite dish. There is also a bar called the “M Bar” that seems to attract quite a few visitors. These things and more help make your stay pleasant. This is overall a very nice hostel in a very nice city.

5 Excellent, would definitely stay here again!
I stayed at three of Meiniger's hotels/hostels during my recent trip to Germany (also Berlin and Cologne), and this one was my favorite. It is very easy to find, a ten-minute walk from the main train station. Very clean, great staff. It is very large, but I didn't really notice that, as the rooms are quite soundproofed.

4 Great
I had an amazing time at this hostel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly (particularly the bar staff). The rooms were probably not the cleanest I have ever seen but they had their own TV and bathroom so there were no complaints from me. For 9 euros a night (Not sure if this is still the price as I stayed in 2005) this place is an absolute bargain. Came for two nights, stayed for a week and it ended up being the best week of my time in Europe thanks to this Hostel and the wonderful city of Munich.

4 First let me say that I almost always prefer small hostels to the larger ones, as I think the small ones are usually more sociable and pay more attention to detail. However, as far as big hostels go, I think this one is about as good as it gets. It's very clean, has great staff, great breakfast, a bar on site, and a secure room to leave luggage. Really my only small complaint is its location. They claim to be a nine-minute walk from the station, but I'd say it's closer to 15 minutes when you're carrying all your bags, etc. It's also in the direct opposite direction from the station as all of the touristy stuff — which is sort of a pain when you want to do some sightseeing. But it's also nice at night when you get a nice quiet spot to sleep away from busy tourist area. Overall it's very good though, and I'd stay here again.

3 PLEASE BE AWARE... you DO NOT get 10 minutes free Internet if you book through this site. I don't understand why, but I just had a big argument with reception and they are convinced I booked through another site even though I have my e-mail confirmation from hostelz.com. And it's only 10 minutes for each booking, not each day.

4 Meininger City hostels are the best hostels in Europe. I can't wait until they build more in other countries. From its location it's an easy 15-20 minute walk to the "city center," just walk straight down the street. The breakfast was great, and the rooms were huge. They even had two beds separated by a door from the rest. Big, clean bathroom. Absolutely no complaints.

5 I stayed at many hostels throughout my European holiday and the Meininger was the best! The Meininger staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were small but adequate for the amount of time you will spend in it. However, the rooms are exceptionally clean and modern with IKEA furniture. It was nice having a private bathroom in our room and once again it was very clean. The atmosphere in the hostel was very social, which allows you to get to know other travelers. Even though I never visited the M Bar at the hostel it always seemed very lively. The breakfast in the morning is served cafeteria style and is very plentiful. Eating in the morning is a great way to get to know people! The location of the hostel is pretty central...it is only three stops from the main train station on the U-bahn. While staying there I would recommend the free walking tour, worth the two-and-a-half hours and a great way to get to know the city. In addition I would recommend the beer hall across the street...great food and beer at cheap prices. Overall the Meininger was my favorite hostel that I stayed at while on holiday for three weeks. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
