Apart from the most fantastic setting, the first thing that will grab you about this guest house is just how clean everything is, considering that everything is made from rattan, bamboo and wood. Principal structures are brick, as is the dorm which is located below the restaurant. This means it can be quite noisy at night, but not after midnight when everything closes down.
The dorm has 5 single beds, all with clean sheets. It is very well protected against mosquitoes, not that there are many even though you are a stone's throw from the mighty Mekong River. Quite a sight in the morning. Interesting, and somewhat ironic, to find that the fantastic views that are seen from this guest house across the Mekong are not of Thailand at all, but of Laos.
It is located about 2.5 km from where the busses stop in Chiang Khong (whatever the moto-taxi drivers tell you) which is either a pleasant 20 minute walk (not so nice at midday) or a few minutes on a moto-taxi. The sign is easy to see on the right hand side as you start to get to the other side of the town from the bus stop. There are no internet facilities at the guest house, but there are ample in the immediate vacinity, although it's quite slow.
Food at the restaurant is absolutely excellent, and considering it's in Thailand, the Mexican selection is unbelievable and very good. Room rates vary according to the time of year, but you can expect to pay no more than US$1 per night for the dorm. Enjoy!
