Pretty good but rather functionnal
I had one night here in February 2001. I came late at night. very beautiful under snow. I didn't have to make a reservation and I found a bed. I could quite easily find it by taking a bus from the city centre. I had one night alone in the more recent building in a four- or six-bed room so I couldn't find many people to talk with. I can remember I got up to late to have breakfast.
Access is via a steep hill which proved challenging for wheelchair users as barriers prevented vehicle access after 10 p.m., but once on-site, rooms were of a generous size and well equipped for those with restricted mobility and included grab rails and shower seats. The hostel is spotlessly clean with excellent food and bistro facilities.

I first stayed here in about 2000, and didn't have a great time due to the fact that the hostel was almost empty, but they still put me in a room with a really creepy guy that seemed to use industrial insect spray for deodorant, and another guy who seemingly had never heard of deodorant, or soap for that matter. This time was a lot happier, as it was during the 2006 World Cup, the hostel and town were busy, Germany had just won too so everyone was a in celebratory mood. The hostel does feel very institutional, but it was comfortable, had good bathrooms, and a big breakfast, although, unfortunately, like many German hostels, it's a fair trek from the city, and right at the top of a hill too.

As usual for an HI hostel, this place was a little pricey, but clean and quiet. The ride up the hill to the place was a little much after spending all day biking, but it was a great place to shower and crash for a night.
This is a very nice and clean hostel, but it's a bit far from the city center, as well as not so cheap. Good choice, anyway.
This place is very clean if somewhat sterile. It feels like a hospital ward in a way. But again, it's immaculately kept. It's located in a peaceful area outside the town. It takes 20 minutes by bus to get to downtown from here.
