Naumburg hostel is a large institutional hostel prone to being over-run by school groups.
It is not very easy to get to. There is a bus which runs from Naumburg (Saale) Hauptbahnhof main station, but only once every two or three hours during the day. It is too far to walk from the station so the best option is a taxi –- which will cost about €5.50. Walking into the city centre is not quite so bad but the hostel is not very close to any of the attractions which might bring hostellers to Naumburg such as the Dom or the Wine and Sekt Manufacturer.
The staff are friendly but do not speak English. The facilities are spartan and some dorm rooms, while clean, do have graffiti on some of the walls and beds. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms but they rarely have hot water.
The main door is locked about midnight but there are rather limited nightlife options so this will not cause too many difficulties. The cost is very cheap – and the breakfast is the usual cereal, cold meats and cheese – which at €4 is probably best avoided.
Naumburg is a nice, small town and enjoyable break, especially if you want to explore the Saale-Unstruut wine region but accommodation options are limited and the hostel is probably as good as you will find in this part of Saxony-Anhalt.
